If you left Literotica

No. I've received emails from people who tried to finish my already-finished works, so I don't think it would make much of a difference. Readers will be readers. If I want to return to that work later on, I will, and call whatever is out there a first draft. Besides, if I'm leaving, it's probably because I'm too bored to even bother pulling my stuff.

Say goodbye? Probably not. As Lauren suggests, it would most likely be because of boredom, and would manifest itself more as not bothering to come around anymore rather than an active "I'm leaving here."

Take my writing with me? I take down things occasionally anyway, for any of a variety of reasons: I want to do something else with it, I've grown to actively dislike it enough I don't want it around anymore, I've done something else with the same idea that works better, etc. The occasional story I've done (all in altsville), though, would likely just be left. Those have just been written for fun and once they're finished I don't really care much about them anymore.

Re your question: Are you trying to tell us something? :)

I said bye once

I come back because there is no place like this. It would be nice if I could take the time and write something. As far as taking my stuff off lit.... no way. I'd have to open a new folder or something.....way too hard. :(

i think that depends on the reason of leaving.

personally, i've already decided to leave the submissions here that are here no matter what the future has in mind for me. i've grown a lot since submitting them here, but they are still a part of my whole package.

another reason i'm leaving them here is that i have some readers who like to be able to re-read them. i guess they don't have the ability to store them on their own pcs or something... but they like going back to them.

if i decide to rework anything that's submitted here, the end result will be unrecognisable and incomparable to what's here and it will be Out under my real name, not wso.

:rose:

If I said goodbye it would be via PM or e-mail to individuals. ~ I have already removed over 200 poems I had on Lit. because I wanted to submit some of them elsewhere and some sites don't like to take "sloppy seconds". Also, I was embarrassed to see my name attached to some of them.

I've left a few times when I've felt that the atmosphere at the time was not conducive to my writing. I've looked for other places on the web where I could share my poetry and learn, but invariably I come back because those places are too academically oriented, have too many rules, no sense of humor, etc. Once I left in a huff and announced it, another time I just told my friends via pm because I didn't think anyone else would care. I've never removed all my poems though. I've taken some down from time to time because I'm reworking them or submitting them elsewhere, but never as part of leaving the site. Now I rarely submit poems here because I save most of them to submit elsewhere though I do first drafts here and occasionally workshop poems in the progress thread.

I have been shifting and changing thoughts and ideas...and as I do so...so does the
feeling to dislodge some of my work that does not work...but...I enjoy the world here
and the multi facets of thought that generate much diversity in my sometimes
world of straight line safety...here...I can be who I imagine I am...to be...must be an ego issue...erasing things I should be more in line with maybe someone wants it..and should be wary of this...thanks for pointing out ...this fact that the work one does ...may effect others...blue

if i left i would leave all my stuff here. unless i needed to pull submissions because of a conflicting submission situation, but aside from that i consider what i posted here to belong to everyone.

i'd prolly not like someone else claiming to author my work. as if, haha.

speaking of, hey neo, you have 3039 posts! its magical!

This is not a place.
It's like saying "if you stopped using your telephone..."

Anyway, I would not pull my submissions here, because if I do, there is no dated record of their first appearance on the web, and thus, anyone who gets hold of it elsewhere could steal it and i couldn't prove I was the author.

No, but I'm being realistic though. I'm presently working on my PhD and forsee times where I may be to busy for 30/30 attempts or starting annoying threads. But I've been here long enough that I suppose I'd drift back when life slowed down.
Dr. Jamie... How sexy is that?

No, I wouldn't recommend it except if you regularly interact with particular people (such as if you were editing for 'regulars'), then it would be gracious to let them know not to waste their time trying to contact you any longer.

I did that once (announce my leaving) after my wife disagreed with my hobby. I cancelled the internet connection for quite a few months. But I later gravitated back here. She knows I'm back on Lit but ignores it, perhaps realizing I'm a happier person for it.

As for 'taking your writing with you', I'm not entirely sure you can. Before I left I inquired into dismantling my account, but as it turns out was glad I didn't as I have since returned.

Hope this helps!

Hmmm. Lessee—you're married, you have very young kids, you have a job, you write here (including doing illustrated poems, which require time and effort in a photo-editing program), you leap tall buildings with a single bound, and you're working on a PhD?

You really are Superman.

I know. I tried that PhD thing. I want your autograph.

O'course, we all know that you are, in all factationalness, Super, man. ;)

You're not taking steroids or anything like that, are you? Those things is bad fer you. :)

Rock on, bud. That PhD stuff is a grind. You have both my empathy and admiration.
