If you don't have any Lit stories posted why are you here?

There are a lot of smart people with quick minds here. Sometimes when I like someone's post I'll look at their profile and stories (makes me a fan of having the stories link in the signature). I've noticed that a number of folks, not just newbies, but even gurus with thousands of posts, have no stories or poems here.

So I'm curious about the appeal of hanging out in AH for those of you that have no stories here. Do you have stories in progress, have you pulled them, are you a professional writer just not writing here, are you published elsewhere and enjoy the company here, are you an internationally famous author with a penchant for smut, are the threads in AH more interesting to you than in other forums, or something else? I'd like to know.

Please understand that I am in absolutely no way suggesting you shouldn't be here - I'd never think that. The more the merrier. Like I said, I'm just curious about the AH appeal if you have no stories here.

I used to write stories.. in fact I wanted to be a writer growing up.. but it went away and now I like reading and posting. Im planing on writing erotic stuff here soon too. I hope I don't suck too bad.

I think it's the community as much as anything else. People come back here because of the banter and the general keen intellect of the Litizens.

I agree with Earl. This place becomes home rather rapidly and the people who post here become your family. And your family would never tell you that you don't belong somewhere because of what you do or your lack of doing; especially if they like you. ;)

Maybe some folks post here as one alt and submit stories under other alts? That would keep their online personality out of the voting process.

I am published elsewhere and like to come here to read the thoughts of other writers and to discuss them. :)

I have a couple of stories posted at lit and about 20 or so poems. When i first came here though i had no intention of writing anything and submitting something..not a chance. I came and stayed mainly because its a great place to hang out, with intelligent, interesting, sexy people to talk to. The AH ,really is like a family and they are always there if you need support or a kick in the pants..
Thats my 2 cents ;)

anyone can participate in AH.

as to why someone might think they are an author: w/o a story at lit with a matching name to the AH name:

a) they're published elsewhere
b) they write and plan to be published at lit or elsewhere, or
c) they write and have published at LIt, but under a different name or names.

c) applies to me.

and jomar, what brings you here? :rose:

Well said :rose:

Well now I'm getting a bit jittery. There are far too many posters here using the word Intellect to describe the denizens of the AH. What next? More writerly threads?

Fair question. I've..ahem... read stories here for awhile. One day a story popped into my head and I wrote it. (curiously, it took a life of it's own in a direction that I have no actual real life interest...go figure). After I submitted it I dropped in for information and such, thought the place was interesting and started to post.

Of course, when I said intellect, I was excluding you from that.

Don't go whistling up a storm, now...

Many of us are here to sit at the feet of greatness.

Maybe suck a few toes along the way...

I haven't written anything for Lit and yet I post here, but I had originally thought essentially the same thing and had planned on not posting until I actually wrote something (this was two years ago, so you can see how on top of things I am with writing). However, reading through the AH, a thread interested me and I felt compelled to respond. Then, having posted once already, I saw no reason not to keep posting and I found much of the conversation to be quite interesting.

Thank you, Equinox. Throw your stuff up here. As you know the authors are friendly and supportive even thought the trolls are, well, trollish. I happen to like the ones that leave comments, though.

I have but one story posted here--well two, but one is under a different handle. But I am a professional writer--but not a creative writer. I'd like to get inspiration to write some more erotica for public consumption...I've written a bit over the past two years, but they were only for specific people.

I have discovered that I really like hanging out with authors, since it's difficult otherwise to find people who really care about being articulate, inventive, and innovative with their verbiage. So I finally figured that if I like hanging out with authors, maybe I should start posting at the Author's Hangout.
