If you are having a lengthy delay in publishing, please add the name of your story and when submitted here.

I've tried reposting a story from mid-october three times now. I'll try to the docx trick next I guess. I used to think it was so great that lit would get my stories out in 48h, but now I've come to appreciate the reliable week it takes on lush : )

Hope things get fixed around here pretty soon because I really prefer lit as a reader.

The last two chapters of my Marcus Hogue series are still in “Pending Purgatory”.
- Originally posted 11/3 rejected for AI.
- Deleted, edited, reviewed by a beta reader and a Lit volunteer editor, resubmitted 11/7.
- PM to Laurel on 11/15, no reply.
- Deleted both chapters 19 & 20 on 11/23.
- Resubmitted chapter 19 on 11/24, resubmitted chapter 20 on 11/25.
- PM to Laurel on 12/12 asking for review of submitted story, no reply.

Ready to throw my hands up in the air. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Had this problem literally this time last year when trying to get my first story out. It eventually came out in late Jan/early Feb.

But the whole pending length could be hit or miss. The last (October) submission I had was only in pending for about 2 days before it was published, while the others before were days to weeks at a time. The current chapter I’ve submitted (on Dec 11th) got 23 hours of pending status before the timer reset, not sure what that means, but maybe it’s a good thing? Still reads error 404 when I clicked on my submitted link though.

I really do feel for you, you’ve been very unlucky with submissions and resending :(

We write for free and deserve at least the courtesy of a response to inquiries on where our stories are in the queue.
Don’t expect any such courtesy around here

I’m of such a low opinion of those that run this site I’m not even compelled to type the expletives they deserve to describe them at the moment

Does anyone have any other site recommendations? After two months of waiting, I'm looking for another place to share my content. Some place other than storiesonline, sexstories, and reddit.

@Laurel and @Manu we should quantify this current problem, which seems to be impacting many authors and impinging on Event / Competition submissions.
Here's one for you. Not mine, but from info they made available in Literotica.

Tied to Darkness Ch 01
published March 2025.

Posted below is the story of their attempts to get sequels published here, from their Literotica About the Author page.

":28-May-2025: Chapter 2 is still "Pending," but has been "Sent Back" to me twice, with the claim that it's "AI-generated." I was interested to see what could be considered AI, so I ran it through two different AI detection tools, and both said the content is human-written.

"I've reached out to the people in charge to help sort this out and offered to upload evidence through Google Docs' version history, which shows very clearly that I wrote it. It's been nearly two weeks now since I submitted it again and has the "Pending" status, so fingers crossed this time around.

"In the meantime, I have Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 uploaded onto my Patreon, and Chapter 2 on my DeviantArt page---go check it out for free there if you want! You can view it under my username: SariYilan.

"21-Apr-2025: Chapter 2 has been labeled as "Pending" since submitted on 06-Apr-2025. I've reached out to Literotica and a mod but so far have heard nothing back. I figured maybe a queue issue or glitch. I re-submitted the chapter yesterday in hopes of it resolving the delay. Fingers crossed this time around!

"08-Apr-2025: Chapter 2 of the "Tied to Darkness" series is still awaiting its turn in the "Pending" queue (I submitted it on 06-Apr). However, feel free to jump over to my Patreon, you can already read it there! Here's hoping Literotica will release it soon."

feel_the_beast says: It is possible, I suppose, that Sari has posted about this, but I didn't see it. I did an author search in Author's Hangout, but came up empty.

At this point in time it's fairly clear Sari had given up on Literotica, and who can blame them? A very promising new author treated like shit until they decide to move on.

This kind of crap needs to be fixed.

To throw another wrench into the quagmire…
Marcus Hogue Ch 19 & 20 … still in Pending Purgatory since 11/24. The third time they week submitted.

To test the waters per se, I submitted Chapter 1 of Brenna Doherty’s Harem. Well, there is a weird glitch as it published in less than 72 hours after being submitted.

I feel like I won the Powerball lottery for getting something published.

Debt: Scene 4 - Reckoning, the 4th in my series, was published after 3 days! The winding story:

Back in October, I originally submitted it and it sat in pending for 17 days.

Then in November, I resubmitted it, and heard back within 2 days that it was rejected due to suspicion of AI.

I rewrote large parts of it to try to appease the screening algorithm, which was originally a bummer. However, I think the re-writes helped me create an even better story than my original submission, so I chose to take that as a win.

I submitted the revised version on December 6, and it sat in pending for 7 days. I decided to take action based on some advice that I read on another thread: if it sits in pending for more than 3 days you have nothing to lose by withdrawing it and re-submitting it.

I removed it an re-submitted it on December 13 with everything exactly the same as the one I made on the 6th. It was approved at midnight between the 16th and 17th.

So, success?

There is clearly some random factor at work, though what it is, who knows 🤷‍♀️?

Glad you got it published finally 😊

Hoping that I didn't crucify myself doing this but I have deleted the two pending chapters which were originally submitted 11/24 & 11/25. They were extremely long chapters. At the recommendation of a fellow author I took the 48,000 words and created six smaller chapters. Not sure of that will do any but but what the hell I thought i would give it a try.

Good luck!

Likely you’ll now be waiting on 6 story’s in purgatory rather than 2

I apologise for my facetious nature but right about now it’s all I have left when it comes to Lit and its practices
