Trump was notorious for saying "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters."

If Trump shot Wayne LaPierre on 5th Avenue,
would it help or hurt Trump's popularity?

Which 5th Ave. in what city?

First I read into the title as Wayne LaPew, but in all fairness, Mr. Lapierre has probably done me some favors like protecting the 2nd Amendment.

But no, I don't think it's a good idea for Mr. Trump to do something like that. Maybe you're referring in some way to when Donald Trump was lending support to HRC back in the 90s as he was making private donations to get his way?

So far as I know, Wayne LaPierre was the VP of the NRA at one time bout 20 yrs ago. He was not a fan of the democrats and was deeply ingaged in teaching people to responsibly use guns.

There's an interesting interview he did with CBS in Oct, 2017 that's consistent with his stance and belief in NRA where, again, he's blasting the Democrats and Hollywood in general. Might be worth viewing.

Ideally Donnie would whack LaPoopiepants, then some other gun nut numnunts would 'come to the defense' and whack Crazy Donnie after which the US SS would whack numnuts.

Then the world would be a better place for rational humans.

It would make him more popular with the First Squeeze. She would be able to stay in NYC during his trail rather than that shithole White House.

would it help or hurt Tromp's popularity?
Good question.

Which 5th Ave. in what city?
Does it matter?

In San Francisco, 5th Ave is mostly a quiet residential street, so use a silencer. In Portland he'd have to choose between city quadrants. I think there's a noisy 5th Ave in Phoenix. Nobody would notice there.

"A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State..."

Mr LaPew didn't protect that part of the 2nd much. Y'know, the beginning part, the justification for bearing arms, THAT part. What you call "protecting the 2nd" I call "enabling mass murder." Gosh, why might we have such different perceptions?

I think I'll play a drinking game; toss back a shot every time Hypoxia uses the phrase well-regulated militia outside of its historical context.

You would think that they'd have given up on that meme by now. Hell, even Laurence Tribe, one of the foremost Constitutional scholar's and a flaming liberal, acknowledge that the 2nd is an individual right.

The notion that the militia is under the sole command and control of the government defeats one of the primary purposes of its existence to begin with.

So many forget that our young nation was beset on all sides by enemies, protected not by the oceans. This is a document that was written in those times. Senator Warren's ancestors were not always well-behaved neighbors.

Wouldn't surprise me. Crazier things have happened.

We talking NYC. The place Cheetolini grifted and can't even come back to without people throwing eggs at his motorcade.

That's hyperbole but it's also the truth. We don't want his ass here, dude, you can take him. Tell him to go back to cheating on his wife in Vegas with piss play and shit. :D

More than that. The "militia" that fired the 'shot heard 'round the world' were NOT acting under the command and control of any recognized government. They had previously been declared in a 'state of rebellion' by the British Parliament. The framers of the Constitution had not forgotten that. There was a recognition on their part that ANY government is capable of becoming tyrannical over time and the only antidote to that was an armed citizenry.

There are these whackadoodle militias that pop up from time to time, they were painted as public enemy #1 back in the 90's. As fringe as they may be they also serve the purpose of being the canaries in the coal mine. The fact that they are engaged in over-reaction (not unlike #BLM), doesn't not diminish the fact that in some cases they are pointing out very real grievances and that sometimes they actually prevail, the Bundy Ranch confrontation as an example.

Indeed it does matter. You explained it pretty well in your description of 3 different cities. But yes, there's different 5th Avenues in different cities. There's quiet 5th avenues, loud ones, congested ones, isolated ones, etc.. Each w/a different geographical advantage and disadvantage. If you're a high profile US President and gonna shoot another high profile guy like an NRA VP, you need to have a game plan that doesn't draw too much attention. Whether it's 5th Ave. Major Busy City or 5th Ave. Bum Fucked Egypt.

I should form a well-regulated militia based upon the 1970 Ford platform when cars were not built to the dictates of OPEC and were not as vulnerable to EMP attack.

There is something to be said in favor of having one of those old clunkers waiting in the wings.

I get all that. Somehow, I don't think the founding fathers or whoever put it in there didn't have mass murder in mind. They wanted assurances that citizens could defend themselves against an oppressive gov't . Kind of like what happened in the events surrounding The American Revolution.

Actually, my deference to Wayne LaPierre as Mr. LaPew was a funny slight. I'm sure the OP will pick up on that.

No one would care unless Trump yelled, "Allah Akbar!" while shooting.

LOL! You guys are funny. I'm having too much fun with this thread and beating it like a dead horse. I need to get out of it for now. Have fun.

Every real man should own at least one restored vintage muscle car.

I'm down with that. Let's be fair to the other old school muscle cars like Mopar stuff and GM. I like the new one's for different reasons, but let's be real about it. Nothing like cruising in some prime vintage car or opening it up on the backroads of the boonies and not worrying about your airbags popping out, those pesky ding ding noises, or worrying if something is going to fall off. And I don't like cars that talk back to me. If it does, I'd prefer that fine old gal Christine.

This is true, but they don't really turn the heads of the fairer sex. Besides, I'm thinking more along the lines of Road Warrior. He had a gimp knee too.
