AIPAC is a pro-Israel lobbying group that's made up of anyone who wants to join regardless of religion or ethnicity. It's not a Jewish lobby.

They lobby congress for a pro-Israel foreign policy. That doesn't make them "the Jewish lobby".

Likewise some group that lobbies Congress to limit equal rights for gays based on biblical ideas isn't the Christian lobby.

Good article yesterday about the politics of AIPAC

Bottom line: They're more than willing to look the other way when a president is elected that they perceive is not exactly supportive of Israeli political positions (Nixon and Obama are mentioned by name)....as long as the steady flow of US foreign aid dollars is not interrupted.
