Because I can't stop myself from posting and asking here it is:
If PYL's ruled the world:
-Slavery would be revived as a standard practice

-Beating ones pyl would not be illegal

-Punishment would not be questioned.

-"Yes, Ma'am" would be used by more than polite southern society, in
fact it would probably become a commonly used phrase

-You wouldn't have to pretend to know anything about boats, horses, home
improvement, ect. to get assistance at such stores to buy supplies
That's all I thought of, any more anyone?

note: I appologize if you don't find this as funny as I did when I wrote it or if you find it offensive, but again, I just couldn't stop myself from posting it.

You see, I am specificaly interested in that time of history - not so much the Roman Republic, but the time when Empire started to decline...... you know when they had all those lovely orgies

Maybe because I was born in town that still has lots of historical remains..... as a small child I used to walk on the Roman Forum and imagine how it would be if I was back in time when it was first built (some more than 2 000 years ago).

Later I learned much about it in school, and got even more attracted, but the most interesting thing was when I got a book about their Games..... very detailed descriptions how they used to be entertained in sex and torture rafinedly mixed.
It is still one of my favorite books.

Slaves in Ancient Rome didnt have any rights at all (unlike in some other parts of the world), they belonged to their masters body and soul to sell them, torture them, kill them...... I find the idea mostly agreeable.

And I do love orgies

Is it a book by Otto Kiefer called Kulturgeschichte Roms ?
I read this one years ago while still teaching at University , and it was an amazing reading..

... besides , notwithstanding the tickle it could give to kinky minds ( ) ..I don't think slaves' life in ancient Rome (or everywhere in ancient or more recent times) is something to look at with desire and regret ....

But it's just a very personal opinion .

I have to agree. It's one thing to agree to do all those things, and totally another to be made. For one thing, quite often the owners weren't responsible or caring. Some of the things they did were horrible. That's why we have safe sane and consentual.

This one's personal. I'm looking for a few books I'd like to read, but I'm not sure if I want to buy them. It would be so nice to be able to walk into my local public library and check out the books I want to read. I found 120 Days of Sodom (so far the only book I've read (although only partially) pertaining to S&M, then when I checked it out the librarian gave me a dirty look. I figured since I found it at the college library maybe she would figure I was taking a psychology class and ignore it, but nooo, she automatically labeled me as icky because I checked it out.
