Ok so in the UK the health Nazis now want to ban smoking in parks, the government wants to impose a stealth tax on alcohol per unit.

can anyone explain then why as much effort is not put into suppressing the trade in illegal drugs such as heroin and cocaine?

Or is that trade regulated by the local gangs, whom the police seem shit scarred of, by killing each other with hand grenades?

seriously fucked up logic.

thread title slightly screwed up due to my being pissed off at this latest piece of PC bull shit / smoke and mirrors.

have they banned smoking in pubs yet?

ages ago, i don't smoke, but i dont use illegal narcotics either, so why do the gov always prey on smokers who pay a fortune in tax, yet ignore drug dealers who pay fuck all in tax, AND refuse help to drug users?

interestin prog on BBC3 at 21.00 , should be informative.

They've been trying to kill the illegal drugs trade for as long as I've been alive. Guess what, people like drugs!

Tobacco is legal because A) They have money and B) They have money.

Legalise fucking everything, take the crims out of the supply chain and use the profits for rehab for those that can't cope.

seriously? kill the trade how? by reducing customs searches to almost zero? by allowing street coppers to turn a blind eye to all but users?

or by imposing 'gateway 4' rules on addicts and making treatment impossible to get?

next year should be fun.. local gov in charge of funding residential rehab with some rehab suppliers with success rates as low as 10%

Ah, now we have the nub. Government policy has never been about reducing drug use, it's about headlines in the Daily Mail and the moron vote.

Seriously, legalise everyting, control the supply, tax it and spend the dosh on treatment for addicts.

(you seen the picture i posted in the 'random glazer silliness thread btw?)

at one time i might have agreed with the legalise point, and confusingly for me i am actually saying that i don't today. BUT

untill a treatemnt for the disease of addiction can be put in place, the rest is bollocks. So just execute dealers! for fucks sake in clayton they are lobbing hand grenades at each other now!

if 10% of the population are susceptible to addiction (to anything) would it be wise to potentialy have 5.5 million smackheads?

There are treatment for addictions, they just aren't funded. You can't fund treatment when you are dependent on "hang the cunts" votes.

Because, they are so concerned about our health and wellbeing; except when after living a smoke and alcohol free life you live to 70 and now need a cataract operation or some such and haven’t paid into a private health insurance then “fuck you you’re on your own.”

Woof!

Bullshit, we all know you’re getting in as much as you can before any stealth tax kicks in.

Woof!

Apparently I have to update Adobe Reader and restart. I'll read it tomorrow.

I've fallen in with some bad dudes from the TUC. says a lot really for the NHS!

but if anyone has a view on treatments for addiction feel free to post them in what was intended as a serious thread. (until the perverts came along)

The ban on smoking in parks is from Blackpool Council.

Don't they realise that most people who go to Blackpool for a holiday are booze-swilling chain-smoking chavs?

Are they trying to destroy their own traders?

They admit that their 'no smoking' signs in the parks are not legally enforceable...

I agree with Sean, but I'm curious: where are illegal narcotics in the UK supplied from? Is it other European countries with laxer legislation, or does it travel further than that?

In the US, it's primarily Mexico and Central/South America (except for that one mad scientist who was apparently responsible for almost all of the LSD in the world ever or something), and it's led to atrocious violence in those countries. The headlines are gut-wrenching. Is there something similar occurring in the European supply chain? Or does this have something to do with the infrastructure of Mexico and countries in SA? I suppose, though, that it's usually a combination of factors.

On a lighter note, I just wanted to say that I always enjoy reading your posts :D

Thank you. I'm pleased that someone does.

Illegal narcotics in the UK come from a variety of sources including the Caribbean, Africa and Asia. Very little comes from European countries with a more relaxed attitude to recreational drugs and that little is cannabis.

Once the drugs are inside the EU, the lack of internal border controls mean that they can be freely moved around. The Channel does deter some imports but Customs and Excise are more focused on tax evasion and people smuggling.

You had me when you told the story about making longbows for fun :)

Ah, thank you! Very enlightening. I'd assumed some of it must be coming from Africa and Asia, but I wouldn't have thought to include the Caribbean.

I wonder sometimes about how the very large and sophisticated cartels manage their businesses. I imagine it must incorporate some of the more mundane facets of commerce, like logistics, profit margins, accounts payables, etc. I bet some of the most successful overlords could make a killing on Wall Street, but I suppose that would be a step down for them, ethically and morally speaking. :D

class elitism aside, it has more to do with some smart arse health nazi quoting that 400 people a year die as a result of smoking related illnesses in blackpool. no one seems to have picked up that a lot of people, granted, from working class roots, retire to blackpool thus causing inaccurate figures which are still good enough to launch a campaign around...

no one mentions the huge heroin problem in blackpool.... and the NHS disease maintenance programme used to 'treat' its victims.

the signs are totaly illegal, so which ever dickhead authorised them has committed a criminal act by wasting public money under local gov. financial regulations.

Dear Fylde council.. (blackpool council)

from http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-08-17/anthrax-drug-user-death-caused-by-suspected-heroin-contamination

Anthrax Drug User Death Caused by Suspected Heroin Contamination
An injecting drug user in England who died in the hospital had a confirmed case of anthrax in a growing instance of the condition from contaminated drugs, the Health Protection Agency said today.

The fatality in Blackpool, northwest England follows the identification of seven anthrax cases since June in Scotland, Germany, Denmark and France, with the source presumed to be contaminated heroin, said the HPA in an e-mailed statement. There was a similar fatality in Blackpool from anthrax through drug injection in February 2010.

Drug injectors, who are vulnerable to a range of infectious diseases, may become infected with the anthrax bacteria when heroin is contaminated with anthrax spores causing an infection, according to the HPA. The condition can be cured if treatment starts at an early stage and is rarely passed from human to human.

God job the victim didn't smoke!
