Don't have a congressman (not in USA), and whatever some politician would do with that anyhow? Not what they care about by a long stretch, regardless of affiliation. (At least until someone has present a useful spin of, yes, demonstrable and easily presentable data.)

I do care does the mask work, and aware about the obvious limitations, but not enough to obsess about it.

Not obsessing, but I would like masks tested. All types. Besides the potential lack of effectiveness of them, some mayors and governors have made edicts, and people are being arrested for not wearing one.
In the mean time, I will do other things, since it is obvious to me, that masks are not such great devices as they are cracked up to be.

If you have a warm fuzzy feeling when you put one on, and go out in a crowd, well, good luck with that.

You don’t care if the mask you are wearing works , and is actually going to protect you?

Well, I think were dealing with two issues... A. ordering people to wear a mask and B. the efficacy of masks in general.

A. Like all mandates, common sense has to be at the heart of the issue. The mandate has to remedy the threat with the least intrusive path on civil rights. Wearing a mask outside in the fresh air is a waste of a commodity that is in short supply. Wearing a mask in a confined area dealing with people in close proximity is prudent at this stage of the pandemic.

B. Understanding why you wear a mask is at the heart of this issue. If several people are in a room with you and you alone are wearing a mask you're in deep shit if you think a paper mask is going to protect you. It will, at best, give you very little protection, now on the other hand, if you're in a room and everyone is wearing a mask then the level of protection rises exponentially. You've minimized the threat by eliminating airborne droplets and particles, the offensive protection a mask gives you, everyone keeps their germs to themselves. If your wearing a mask and other people aren't it's incumbent on you to take the appropriate precautions and avoid those individuals ( social distancing ). The virus is a threat but it can be dealt with in a rational manner.

They closed down car washes in my state, if the attendant wears a mask and I, while paying the attendant, wear a mask why do you shut down a car wash? PURE STUPIDITY. Mandating without common sense is what pisses people off and then makes people defy a public ordinance.

You "make believing" that everyone else is sick and should be wearing a mask, is bullshit on your part. You have no proof that anyone is sick, but you want THEM to make you "feel better" by wearing PPE that does NOTHING because they aren't sick and/or contagious.
