Identification probs

I take it you don't have a passport. Unless/until you can get the driver's license renewed, I don't think an invalid driver's license will help you if you get stopped while driving a car no matter what other documentation you have, though. Chances aren't good you'll get stopped, though, are they? Not driving a souped-up fire-engine-red Pontiac Firebird I hope.

My grandmother got the royal runaround in trying to get a passport to travel to Europe once. Her birth certificate got burned in a courthouse fire, and they were insistent that this is what she needed to get a passport. Eventually, they loosened up and said that all they would need then was certified letters from two people (other than relatives) who were there at the birth. She was 88 when she was applying for the passport.

Driving I don't have to worry about. Haven't owned a car since 2002 and I have no future intention of getting one. I did for a while, but I just can't justify the cost.

I'll stick with what I've got, and hopefully, after tomorrow, I'll be supremely confident that traveling won't be a problem.
