How do you guys deal with reeeeally short feedback?

You know the kind I mean - the ones that are between one and ten words, which are nice enough, but really don't make you connect sufficiently with the sender to be able to send a detailed reply. They've included their email address, though, so presumably they want you to acknowledge their brief comments...

What's the general consensus?

I thank them for their kind words, then I give a short little piece of information about that particular story, or about one that might be coming up that's similar, and then I thank them for taking the time to write to me and let them know how much I appreciate it.

:)

"I loved it! It made me cum four times!"

Thank you! I wrote that one about ten years ago, I'm shocked you didn't notice the sloppy grammar. I've got another one coming out here pretty soon (I hope) that's got the truck in it, too. I think it's better, personally. I hope you'll like it.

Thanks for taking the time to write to me, I really do appreciate that.

Muffin

Tres easy and still sincere.

So what about one-word feedbacks?

Ever tempted to send single words back?

- Thanks!

or perhaps

- cheers

or even (if you're feeling frisky)

- Olé!

Time is so scarce for writers... *sigh*

"Thank you for taking the time to write! I'm glad you enjoyed/sorry you didn't enjoy the story."

Do people REALLY want a return message from the author if they include their email address? I stick mine on there as a courtesy, not as an invitation, personally. If I want feedback I say "please reply." I guess I kind of extrapolated this personal quirk onto every feedback I've received (a weighty number, to be sure). So I neatly sidestepped the entire dilemma. Cheers for me!

Quint,

When you hit the anonymous feedback button it brings up the screen where you fill out your feedback and also states on there that if you wish a response from the author to your feedback to fill in your email address, which is why I think that people put their email addresses on there.
