Something I came across on the wonder that is FB!

Find out which famous authors you write like by entering a sample of your writing into this site.

I Write Like

All good fun and your writing isn't stored.

So, who do you write like?
(And if you want to include the writing that gave you that answer then please do!)

Figured I should go first, show that it's relatively painless.

I used my last post in 'The Right One'. Apparently, I write like H.P.Lovecraft.

grins

Who's next?

This is fun I think I will try different samples and see if I get the same result.

Apparently I write like Dan Brown * runs off to google his name.*

Having had a good old play with it...

grins

You tend to get different results, which is fun!

Yes, I also cannot believe that I didn't recognize his name lol * kicks herself*

I have got the same result three times so I am off to search for a sample where I tried to change my style :D

Ahhh ...Bitter Betrayal gave me Anne Rice.

Gew Gaw gave me Ray Bradbury.

Yes this is fun I half expected it would say. " Shove off you are not a writer!" Like the bank machine you are happy cannot talk when it declines your request for cash.

Thanks Britwitch.:rose:

Well, since I currently only have RPs going on another site--need to remedy that--I used my posts from over there. Going with one RP in particular, my most recent post gave me William Shakespeare. The one before that claimed JK Rowling. And the one before that claimed Anne Rice. Hrmm... I wonder what all of this means!!! LOLOL! XD

Very fun indeed! Thanks for sharing, Britwitch! :)

Fun!!

Used my post from the April challenge, and it came back: Chuck Palahniuk.

Probably all the swearing, but - I'll definitely take it!

yeishia: I was afraid it would come back with that response, too!

Very cool find Brit.

Tested a couple of my story and thread ideas and got H.P. Lovecraft on my written word magic idea and Margaret Mitchell on my solo NightWatch story idea

Hmmmm... apparently my writing persona changes a lot.

I tried the ten sections of the first chapter of a story I'm working on, and it came up with these results:
  • Arthur Clarke (2x)
  • J. R. R. Tolkien (2x)
  • Stephen King (3x)
  • J. K. Rowling (2x)
  • Ray Bradbury
The chapter as a whole came up as:
  • Arthur Clarke
Curiously, two of the three sections coming up as Stephen Kingesque deal with a seven year old boy...

As far as I understand, it's based on syntax and such rather than subject matter.

Tested We are reborn and got Dan Brown

Because this is too much fun, I had to test out the posts for my other ongoing RP that is elsewhere... most recent post came up as Gertrude Stein. The one prior claimed to be like Douglas Adams. And the one just before that claimed to be Harry Harrison. XD

Tehehe... love this! *keeps on giggling*

Wow, this is very interesting, thanks for that Brit.

Pulled a post that I was proud of from my "Queen's Pawn" thread and got Anne Rice. Pulled a good post from another thread and got Margaret Atwood.

This really is amazing, the only problem with C&P is that it's missing a few of the format type things which change usages. I put some first person thoughts in italics, but I can't format the text in the text box, so I don't know if it recognizes some of the things I do stylistically.

I wish I had some non-erotica fiction written just to examine that.

EDIT: Put in one more post from an older thread and got Cory Doctorow. I have no idea who that is, honestly, but it says he's science fiction.

I think it must analyze content to some degree, since my sci-fi thread gave me a Sci-fi writer (Doctorow), my historical romance thread gave me Anne Rice, and my thread involving wizards gave me Margaret Atwood (noted for stories based on myth and fairy tale).

Did one more, once I realized I've got all my coursework from last semester, including my research paper. Apparently, for something non-fiction, I write like Mario Puzo. That's not a bad comp to have, but seems weird given that I pulled from a paper about the founding of American Political parties.

bounces and giggles

I'm so glad you're all finding this as much fun as I did!

I picked the first thing in my notebook. Just titled "Jasmine," I think.

Oscar Wilde.

Chuck Palahnuik for my latest post in Inside the Inferno House, David Foster Wallace for my first post in Immortal Love, and William Shakespeare (Yeah flattering) for an old post I've always been proud of in The river runs red, and Isaac Asimov for my last post in Little Huntress. and William Gibson for my favorite post in my Star Wars thread.

Didn't think of checking Huntress but for one of my favorite posts there I got Mary Shelley And for loved post on Immortal Love I got Margaret Mitchell
