I would love somebody to write me a poem.

One of my lovely cats was run over and killed this evening. I am understandably extremely upset, and would love to write a poem for him. With one big problem, I'm crap at poetry. He was a beautiful tabby tomcat, called Boppy, and he was the most affectionate cat that I've ever known. I am going to miss him so much and would be extremely grateful if somebody could write a little poem for me to share with my children.

Thanks, in advance,

Lou :rose:

Ah, Loulou-mine. You're the only person I'd do this for. Will try to come up with something very soon.

love, Purditta

Oh, Purrditta, that would be so wonderful of you!

I can't thank you enough.

Much love, Loulou

So sorry about your kitty......

I am a cat person, too(we have 8, plus 2 foster kittens from the local shelter) . I see that you are accomplished-Ill read some of your posts). I am in California and have been using the erotica as a source of titilation, but have recently got rid of my business and , since Ive seen some REALLY good writing here, became a member and interested in being a contributor. I am a fan of a wordsmiths stories, and there are quite a few of both here. I have gotten interested in writing a piece about 2 young women with a foot fetish(got the idea on the Story Idea board, "Toes in Pussies") and I think Ill try to write it. Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated. As I said, my sympathy about your kitty- They are special- Sloan

Katie, how's this? I tried to focus on this being for your children. If you want something different let me know; hope we can manage to correspond w/o much time lag.

love you, Purditta

Boppy

Boppy was a boy cat
Fat in happiness
Cos Katie and the kids
Loved him fat like a king.

Boppy was a tabby
Which means he wasn’t black
Or blue or white or polka-dot.
(Tabby means rainbow in Cat).

Boppy was English, a regular bloke
And not from The North!
He had enough heart and spleen
Even for E. Regina the long-lived queen.

Boppy will be missed
Forever and a day
Boppy had his day
Hooray, hooray!

Purrditta, you darling, I'm too choked up to type too much right now, but it is wonderful, and spot on for the kids.

Thank you so very much.

Love YOU, Katie   :rose:

Ps. Thanks for your kind words about my cat, Sloan.

for Sloan

Sir, after real consideration I feel I must say the bulk of your post was quite tactless. Most newbies post intro threads or join more appropriate ones. Being a 'cat person' seems feeble reason to promote yourself herein, let alone use an inappropriate pun.

Sniff. Cats always brings out the big softy in me for some reason. Here is a little something that might apply, I don't know that much about Boppy, so I made it just generally catty. A little bit too sentimental for the kids, maybe...

For Boppy
You bouncy furry flimsy purry
tripping through our days
chasing dreams by your own means
in feline fancy ways

A little head by whiskers lead
to rest upon my cheek
I wonder how a thoughtful meow
could make my knees so weak

In your own world all cuddly curled
you rested in my lap
or went astray in your own way
and paws went tap-tap-tap

Now you will run above the sun
and dreams you'll always chase
Goodnight you furry flimsy purry
sunshine of our days

Poetry is beyond me, Loulou, but kind thoughts are not.
If I could hold your hearts in my hand and comfort them the same way that you and yours comforted Boppy and he soothed you, I would do so.
Time does not heal, as often reported, but it does provide some distance and ease the sharpness of pain.
May the thoughts that you retain the longest be the happiest of your times with Boppy.

My apologies- I stand corrected

You are correct-Sloan

It's ok, Sloan, tact was never a strong point of mine. Thanks for the apology.

Thank you, P. I was thinking much the same thing last night, but was in no mental position to dwell on it, and comment. Your thoughtfulness is much appreciated. We told the girls about Boppy this morning, they were asleep when it happened last night. They were very upset, but I had your poem printed out, and read it to them, it brought little smiles to their faces. I can't thank you enough, it was so wonderful to have that, at such an awful time. You are a true friend.

Lin, thank you. I don't know what to say, it is a beautiful poem. It made me cry, a lot, but that isn't a bad thing. I won't share it with my girls just yet, but they will really appreciate it, given a little time. He was the sunshine of our days.

OnD, thank you, for such lovely comforting words.

Loulou

I'm sorry. It hurts to lose someone we love, and your cat is a very important someone to you. This is not my poem (I only wish I could produce something so wonderful), but one I have always loved. Perhaps you will see a little of your cat in it. :) :rose:

The Cat And The Moon
William Butler Yeats

THE cat went here and there
And the moon spun round like a top,
And the nearest kin of the moon,
The creeping cat, looked up.
Black Minnaloushe stared at the moon,
For, wander and wail as he would,
The pure cold light in the sky
Troubled his animal blood.
Minnaloushe runs in the grass
Lifting his delicate feet.
Do you dance, Minnaloushe, do you dance?
When two close kindred meet.
What better than call a dance?
Maybe the moon may learn,
Tired of that courtly fashion,
A new dance turn.
Minnaloushe creeps through the grass
From moonlit place to place,
The sacred moon overhead
Has taken a new phase.
Does Minnaloushe know that his pupils
Will pass from change to change,
And that from round to crescent,
From crescent to round they range?
Minnaloushe creeps through the grass
Alone, important and wise,
And lifts to the changing moon
His changing eyes.

Thank you, Angeline, that was very sweet of you. I agree, it is a wonderful poem. I could see a little of Boppy in it.

I'm sorry,

I had a great cat once but he finally went on to the great mouse hunt... I still miss him. I hope you find solace in this time of loss... It still amazes me how much the loss of a pet hurts. Can't say much to make you feel better other than to tell you there are people out here that wish you well and are sorry for your loss.

JJ1

Thank you JJ1. I have found it slightly easier today, but I can't stop thinking about him. Bedtime is tough, because he always snuggled up with us at bedtime, purring in our ears as we went to sleep. The girls haven't been too bad, although Georgina, my youngest, was extremely upset when we told her. They made little crosses for him out of lollipop sticks, and drew some pictures for him. I think that helped.

Again, thanks, your words of comfort mean a lot to me.

Remembering Boppy

Remembering Boppy

Remember how much fun Boppy was
How warm and fuzzy he was
Was he fuzzy you bet he was fuzzy
and now all we're thinking is does he
Does he remember us the way we remember him
Remember him smiling at us
Sure cats can smile
Remember him laughing at us
Sure cats can laugh
Remember him cuddling with us
And rolling around on the floor with us
And being all stupid and goofy like a cat's supposed to be
Yeah I think Boppy will remember us
Just like we remember him
Somewhere Boppy's chasing a mouse or living in a great big wonderful cat house
But it's just not in our house
anymore
Bye Boppy
We'll always remember you

My deepest sympathies, dear LouLou.

We just got a new kitten of our own and my cat-like thoughts tend to be about the rhythm of new curiosities.

The Ninth Life of Boppy Cat

Fur and fang
Purr and pounce
Reach for me
Watch me flounce

Birds to chase
Kids to watch
Sun to sooth
Mice to catch

Run and play
Hide and seek
You find me
With a peek

Days are yellow
Night's deep blue
Boppy's gone
We'll miss you

Sonnet

Apparently I wasn't done thinking of you. Not sure the meter is perfect, but think it scans. This poem's from me. :)

Kitty Sonnet

Boppy I'll still see you in this and that,
in a prism, a marble, or the moon.
I'll look for ways to reinvent you, cat,
to keep you in the world you left too soon.

With my inner eye and my writer's heart,
I'll envision you where there now is space.
Death's a false veil; we're not really apart:
I'll hold you in thought in a state of grace.

Oh yes I'll shed tears, my heart full of rue
for the empty bowl and the space in bed,
but this grief will end, and I'll then renew
all the ways your life enriched ours instead.

So I'll say farewell and honestly grieve,
until happier thoughts offer reprieve.

I will always remember
the warmth on my just vacated lap
as you stalked away across the floor

the soft tickle of your whiskers
as you perched on my chest
and butted my nose
because your dish was empty

the silent intensity
staring through the window glass
the singing bird
safe on the other side

wait for me friend
and snooze in memory's sunshine
I'll be along
eventually

not all partings are permament.

Mark, Eff, Angeline and Belegon. Thank you all, so very much.
I've got to admit, I found it quite painful and upsetting reading through those wonderful poems. I've only just been able to bring myself back to this thread. I know, given a little time, I will draw great comfort from every single poem here, as will Adam and our girls.

You are all such kind-hearted people, thank you.
