Ravelled edges would be cool. But it would make it look more like paper at the same time. It's beautiful the way it is.

I would try using a smearing tool to break up the hard edges. Zoom in close and maybe try to complete the patterns that run off at the edges.

Is that a face to the right of the brown leaf? An odd expression if it is.
