Manchester United supporters fear the interest Malcolm Glazer will pay on the money needed to buy the club will lead to Old Trafford being sold.

Glazer revealed details of his formal offer document on Monday, showing a succession of steeping interest charges taking the approximate overall cost of a £265million loan to a massive £570million.

On top of his loan, the American has to pay back a bridging loan of £18.9million by March next year and another £90million as a credit and capital expenditure facility, which had never previously been mentioned and could be used to fund the much-heralded stadium expansion.

There is still another £275million in preferred securities, which it is anticipated he will refinance almost as soon as the deal is done.

Fans fear the result will be a debt that could creep towards £1billion, particularly when the administration costs from banks are taken into consideration.

Shareholders United chair Nick Towle said: "This is frightening and nightmarish. No-one has a clue how this will work, it seems impossible and ridiculous.

"He could find someone else to borrow money from, but who would lend him more money? The other option would be the sale and lease-back of the ground."

Selling Old Trafford would mean losing the club's most valuable asset, only to pay the new owners money to use the stadium to play games.

It is unclear whether the Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner will have permission to sell United's home, but Towle expects there to be opposition from supporters if the matter goes to court.

He added: "Sale and lease-back might only raise £200million, but how will fans react to him selling the family silver?

"If it does go to court there will most probably be protesters, fans have become more militant and dynamic and Glazer could be financially ruined."

The document released on Monday confirmed why Red Devils chief executive David Gill described Glazer's business plan as 'aggressive' and 'potentially damaging' to the long-term interests of the club.

Yet, amazingly, Gill is likely to be charged with delivering the massively increased profits the American tycoon is convinced are available to the world's most profitable soccer club.

Within the offer document was again confirmation that the Glazer family want to work with the current management and a statement that not all the four current board members of Red Football - Joel and Avi Glazer, Mitchell Nusbaum and William Sondericker - will sit on United's board.

It is becoming clear though, that Joel, a 38-year-old graduate from American University in Washington, will patrol the Glazer family interests in the Old Trafford outfit.

As Glazer steps up plans for his profit-driven dream at United, the fans feel he could well be taking away their very own Threatre of Dreams.
