I saw a Savage model 99 with the octagonal barrel and it was a .30-30. Oh did the covetousness run through this muffin. If THAT wasn't enough to set my drooling self into paroxysms of want, there was a new, never been shot Mossberg 590, ooooooooooooooooohhhhhh I want one soooo bad. After that, just the centennial edition to match the Savage model 99. Oh yeah, and a Desert Eagle .357, I wanna be knocked flat on my ass everytime I shoot it.

Ohh Santa... Muffie has been a very very good girl this year. Santa? Hello? Hey, when I'm naughty, I'm very very good. Okay? Does that work? Santa? Hello?

Sheesh.

Maybe the StudMuffin will be more inclined.

Hey go for the

Hey Killer,
Go for the .44 version of the desert eagle, that sounds like the pistol for you. then you can get really knocked on your ass everytime you shoot it.

My dear Muffin,
you really want to get knocked on your ass? Try a Thunder Five or a 500 Linebaugh Magnum.
The thunder five shoots a 45-70 round out of a five shot revolver. The bullet weight is 405 grains.
The Linebaugh shoots a .50 calber round using a 500 grain weight bullet.
Saw one of the Thunder Five's at my local gun store. Snata ain't never going to bring me that for Christmas. Sticker price was $3500.00. Brass frame too. That's the second most favorite thing I'd love to run my hands over. The first? well do you need someone to catch you after you fire one of these monsters? I never said i wasn't a dirty old man!
comshaw

Desert Eagle .50 Magnum is the way to go, if you want to spend two grand on a handgun (Santa might need some special favors for that one!)

All right, all right, it's really .495 Action Express, but only the JBTs at ATF care about that.

Hey are you really from Intercourse or are you just saying you are? I must say that PA has some of the best town names Intercourse, Middlesex, Blue Ball, Bird In Hand!!

And there is nothing wrong with ATF my uncle is ATF after 21 years of being in the Marines!!

OOooOOOoOOOooo target practice naked... the fun one can have ;)

I have been in burning lust for the DE .357(yes it was a magnum) every since I put a brick through one a few years ago. I begged for more bullets, pleaded, offered blowjobs, but we had to go. *sigh*

Intercourse PA or Cut n' Shoot TX hmmmmm

you PA'ers have always been just a tidge on the naughty side huhm Nekkie dear?

If you like the Savage 99 in 30-30, you would really like the Model 94 I have. My grandfather bought it in 1917. Full length round barrel, half mag, and folding peep sight on the tang.

We Okies get stuck with towns like Slap Out. Hey now theres a place for ya Killer. Back when I was out of town a lot, I gave Madam S a Mossburg 12 gauge pump for home defence. Loaded with bird shot, she could just point it in the right direction, and fiil the room with pellets that would not go through a wall to hit a child, and the second round was buck shot that would stop most anyone. The one time that she got it out, the sound of the pump action was enough to make 'em turn tail and run.

Nothing like the sound of a round being chambered in a twelve gauge to intimidate an intruder!

Talking about guns in this manner seems very strange to me, even a bit disturbing. Maybe it's because I'm a peace-loving Cannuck, or maybe because I'm a "civilian" as opposed to military, or because I live in a city and not in the country, but boy does this seem weird.

Just had to say that. Carry on.

KM, you're sounding a wee bit like our Deborah :)

OOOooooo scary. LOL

Remind me, how many of you Americans get blown away by each other each year?

Happy killing.

Life, lust, and superior firepower...

I'll cheerfully admit that as a nation, we Americans seem to be obsessed with our firearms. I'd say that's a reaction to the english trying to disarm the colonies back in the days when yer gun put food on the table! 8) Either that or a national desire to make up for a small penis... *wry grin*

However, I know plenty of men who don't suffer from that who like guns quite a bit, so take the "penis envy" bit with a grain of salt... ;)

Realistically... *shrugs* About 80% of the talk about guns is the same as people talking about cars, computers, stereos, or anything technical that's impressive. I personally don't like high-calibre guns, but I'll definitely appreciate the potential. As long as that potential isn't realized when I'm around, I'm happy... ;)

Gimme a sword any day. Just as effective, more intimidating, and more elegant. Besides, blades don't run out of ammo...

Just knowing that she was armed was enough to save my wife and kids from dealing with an intruder. I'mm extreamly glad that it wasn't nessary to fire the weapon. Sometimes the only way to preserve the peace is to be prepared to to defend it. Apllies to homes and countries. Unfortnatly a sword requires long practice, and getting closer than I really want to be to the bad guys.

I'm surprised this thread hasn't degenerated yet into a debate about gun control. On any other list I've ever been involved with, any gun discussion usually ends up in such a battle.

I agree with Sam 100%. I don't have a clue what most of the things are that the gun enthusiasts were talking about in the beginning of this thread. Guns don't make me salivate. But I can defend myself if I need to. Like Sam's wife, I hope the fact that I am armed will be enough to scare away any intruder some day. If not, I won't hesitate to protect myself.

Cheyenne,

You had to bring up the guncontrol thing huh? Now I'm debating on whether or not to spank you or just chain you to the wall and whip you 'til you beg for more :p

Comshaw, actually the Thunder Five shoots either the 45Colt (cowboy style) or the 410 gauge shotgun. I'll agree with you on the price of the Linebaugh though, at $3500.00 a peice, I'd be scared to shot the blooming thing!

I think I'll just stay with Old Reliable, a Detonics Combatmaster 45ACP, hasn't let me down yet. ;)

Both of us enjoy target shooting, me primarily because I'm naturally a good shot and he required a tidge more practice to get there, however, he still outshoots me.

I had someone break into my house twice with intent to do bad things. My shotgun deterred them. Something about a 12 guage pump action does that it seems, eh Sam?

Pretty soon I'll be trying my hand at shooting competively, I enjoy that sort of thing and I think I'm pretty good at it. To me, a gun is simply a tool. One that requires healthy respect and proper education. All of ours are locked in a gun safe with apropriate trigger locksThe only time I have a firearm out of the safe for any purpose other than to go target shooting is when the StudMuffin is gone overnight, then I have a loaded shotgun. The SM is better than any gun for home defense. I'd rather use the gun though, I don't want him to have to go through that again.

I think it's stupid that we'll teach about sex in school but we won't have a class on gun safety. It's not like it's difficult. Teach kids the cardinal rules. Don't touch! Get an adult.

Handguns.

I am far more comfortable with rifles and shotguns than I am handguns.

Evidenced by the fact that I own a variety of rifles and shotguns and not a single handgun.

However, earlier in the thread someone mentioned Desert Eagles .50 magnum caliber handgun. Ever since I saw an article on it five or six years ago I have wanted to shoot it.

I have fired mounted fifties hundreds of times and I have a tremendous NEED to compare the two. Obviously this thing has got to be a beast even if it isn't as bad as the machine gun.

The .50 BMG is a whole different kettle of fish than the .50 magnum in the Desert Eagle. If you like shooting those real big .50 BMG bullets there are a few single shot or semi-auto rifles like the Barett .50 chambered for the round. Of course you need a 1000 yard range to shoot them and they are hellishly expensive.

Hey Skibum

Yeah the canadian army just started receiving its Barret .50 cal's a couple of months ago.

I realize the difference, but I read that article a week before we hit the ranges in a training cycle. I spent the next few days frequently staring at the link coming out of the box to the fifty and thinking DAMN! A pistol round of the same caliber (I know the cartridges are entirely different).

The thing must weigh a ton.

Hey guys, girls too......

Help me out on this....

Years ago I heard tell of a "replacement" for conventional burnt gas projectiles - rounds - bullets......

Something called a Gyro-Jet(?)

A mini-missle. Actually pics up speed after leaving a rifled barrell. Much increased range. Supposed to be able to fire these little rockets into the ground and detonate them later - shit like that.

You all ever hear of such a thing?

Actually, the Gyrojet was a real pistol and cartridge. It showed up around 1973, I think the it was originally developed in England.

The caliber was roughly 11mm, a solid projectile, with three or four small holes in the base, machined at an angle to impart a spin as the bullet moved.

The weapon had a horrible reliabilty factor, due to the fact that it would spew the fuel all through the operating mechanism. A second thing was that they used solid fuel, like rocket boosters, to launch it. Which has a slow burn rate. If memory serves right the firing time was about 2 seconds per round. A hell of a long time to sit still when somone's shooting at you!

The accuracy was another bad part of it, at 25 yards the smallest group averaged was around 11 inches, not exactly conducive to good marksmanship.
