It wasn't actually that important to know the answer. I spend much of my Lit forum time in the BDSM sections, where questions like that are commonplace and help us better understand what other posters are going through. For instance, in this case, it is helpful from a fellow kinkster's perspective to know whether or not those clothespins were self administered (requires great self-discipline) or done for him (so he could just clench his fists and focus on his breathing).
I hope that explains a bit why I asked.

Thank you for your willingness to answer, LadyTemptress. As I indicated above, it wasn't an urgent pressing question that I needed an answer to, but it helps me understand your combined situation a little better. To tell you a little about myself (and you will learn a great deal more if you read back threads in BDSM Talk!), I have never actually experienced an online-only relationship; my sexual relationships both started as online friends and became relationships long after we'd met in person.
