on another forum, for saying the following:

"I guess most theists aren't like me, content enough with this life that they don't really worry about an afterlife, if there is one."

Do you think I deserve to lose an eye for saying that?

Gods.

Some people.

You have to admit, if it weren't for the small minds the rest of us would have nothing to toy with.

Apparently it doesn't really apply to religious OR political speech. I was told before by a Pagan I know that he'd beat me up if he saw me refusing to say the Pledge of Allegiance.

Freedom of speech usually means freedom from government interference with speech. I'd hope it also means protection for unpopular points of view, but apparently violence wins out there.

Gods. I don't know why this is bothering me so much. Maybe I'm extra-sensitive today.

Yeah, but sometimes there are so many to choose from, I'm not sure which one(s) to play with. :(

No sweet thing, it's bothering you because no one should be threatened with violence when they are expressing what the believe or don't believe. It's upsetting to think that ignorance is bliss and sometimes rampant. Some people get their jollies from being bullies when they realize they have no real fact to back up what they profess as being accurate.
You're above it. :rose:

I could always become the warrior, and go help you. :)

No one likes being threatened, or told what to do. Not to be over-judgmental of someone I've never met, but you have to wonder if this pagan person is really pagan, or just playing it up for attention.

I was threatened about a year or so ago on here and it irritated the shit out of me. It might be best to let Laurel or Manu know, just to keep them aware of what goes on on the boards.

Not all Pagans are assholes.

You clearly made your point and struck a nerve, so if I were you, I'd walk away whistling.

no, but you're supposed to go blind for being on this website in the first place.

It sounds like you're not shook up about being threatened, just that reality isn't as nice as your world view.

Sorry. I probably wasn't clear. I wasn't threatened on Lit for this. I visit a few religious discussion boards, and I was threatened on one of them.

Thanks for the empathy and sympathy, though, Samandiriel, Cloudy, QC, and all you lurkers who haven't posted but care about me. I think I was a bit shaken by this because, too, it was done by someone on my ignore list there. So I knew he made the threat (someone else quoted him) but not that it was about me...then a friend of mine on there (a really sweet Christian guy who lives in a commune) mentioned me in connection with it.

Much  to you all.

Do you want us to invade that board and kick some ass?

Thanks, but I don't want to get in trouble. I want to remain the sweet, lovable, innocent victim as long as I can over there. :D

I'm well aware. But not all assholes are non-Pagan. Seems lik ethis person she mentioned (again, from far away and across the net, admittedly) forget what it is to be so different from others, and to want to express themselves and practice and believe as they wish, without hinderance from others.

It's like hearing a black guy, who you know damn well hates to be called a nigger, call a homosexual a Faggot. You know they're both minorities, you know they're aware, and you wonder how he doesn't know how stupid he's being.

:(
