I tried to find a board like this one, but for books. Not a porn board (Lit is enough for me) not a general board. But one about books, where people that read a lot can discuss different books, anyone have any ideas?

A general board that has book section is ok. I prefer one that uses the same software as Lit (or something similar).
I tried Yahoo, but haven't found anything useful yet.

So help please!

EzBoard Forums

About.com always has good forums, but the literature forums there aren't very active.

Delphi.com is good too, and you can create your own forum if you don't find one you like.

I would like to talk about any books, sexy-girl! I love to read.

I would be interested in starting a book club, if there was enough interest. I work at a book store, so I know a lot of different titles. The only problem I would see, is people read at different speeds. That and chosing the books!

Thanks for the sites, LedAstray, I'm checking them out right now!

The problem I find is not reading at different speeds so much as finding time to read. Once a month sounds good to me, I can actually finish a book in a night, but finding that much time is hard. I'd be interested-if I had access to a library that actually has fiction.

Lately that has been a problem with me too. No time (2 jobs and school, plus I help teach a class). Since I started working in a bookstore I've forced myself to read more (which isn't a bad thing!) Once a month is good. I'll start a new thread to see if people would be interested!

Thanks BlondeBeauty, I'll going there!

Ohiobbw I was wondering if you have read any books by Diana Gabaldon?

I wouldn't mind joinin in on something like that.
but the reading level thing is a problem for me. It takes me aprozimately one hour to read a chapter so takes a month or two to finish a book. and there are soo many i want to read.

Anyone here read anything from the Narnia series or the Illuminati? I want to start on one of those soon.

Even if i can't join in on a book discusion reading the threads about them wouldn't be so bad.

Works for me.
Hmm...
I even tried clicking on that specific link.

http://www.sparknotes.com

Trying again...

BTW, SparkNotes is also great at explaining a novel's concepts, symbolism, etc. It's sort of like an online "Cliff Notes" website, too.

I've heard about her, but I haven't read her yet.

I should hope so as well if you work in a bookshop :)
Ok heres your bookshop test, what section should
the following authors go under?

Kinky Freidman
Peter F Hamilton
J K Jerome
Jack Mcdevitt
Iain Banks

Im interested in the book club idea. I read quite
a lot, from classics, scifi, crime, adventure, historic.
My reading matter varies depending on my mood.

I know of at least one site for reading groups:

http://www.readinggroupguides.com/

I know in addition to advice for starting and running reading groups, the site provides reading guides for lots of books (info on the author, discussion questions, maybe a chapter to read, etc.). Several publishers have started putting together their own discussion questions and other reading resources and releasing them as a way of encouraging reading groups to select those books to read. I've seen quite a few new books lately on Amazon.com or at barnesandnoble.com where there was a link to a reading group guide somewhere on the page.

If you did start a group here on lit, or elsewhere, those guides can be handy for members who really enjoy reading and just don't know where to begin when asked to discuss books. It's also a good place to look to get a better idea of what the book is like than you can get from reading the press and customer reviews on Amazon (which are helpful, but sometimes very misleading).

any bookes...really? hmmmmmmmm i luv history books any thing from ancient to modern...unfortunately most ppl find em boring so its hard to find a person to discuss ancient egypt the fall of rome or the civil war for that matter.....:)
