I've been particularly craving something like a non-horror post-apocalyptic setting (no gross zombies 
I mean the kind where 80% of humanity just vanishes or dies of a plague which has ended before the story starts and didn't leave permanently damaged survivors, and civilization collapses from the lack of people) where a pair or small gang of men have been cooperating as a team to survive, then they find a woman and have to work out whether they are going to share or whether their team is going to break up.
Or, a sff setting where a small percentage of children are born female, so it's normal for males to team up to come up with a place to live suitable for starting a family and enough money to pay the bride price for one of the rare females.
Or, a sff setting where the human-like race has three sexes, all necessary to reproduction, but the female-like sex is the rarest of the three and it's common for members of the other two (an alpha male and an omega male...?) to team up or become lovers before they consider trying to win a female.
Either recommendations of existing stories or books, or suggestions for an interesting way to develop one of these story ideas are welcome.
