In April, according to a New York Times story, when a Japanese art collector sought to choose between Sotheby's and Christie's auction houses to handle a sale (which ultimately brought in $17.8 million) and quixotically asked the two houses to play rock-paper-scissors for the privilege, Sotheby's lost out on the eventual $2.3 million commission by choosing paper. (A Christie's executive quoted one of his 11-year-old daughters: "Everybody knows you always start with scissors.") [New York Times, 4-29-05]

You gotta wonder how the guy from Sotheby's explained that one to his boss when he got back to the office. :D

or tried eeny meeny miney moe.

Now my idea of decadently rich is to wear a pair of socks once, then have them cleaned and given away. Socks NEVER feel the same once they have been washed.

I want to live in a house that has wings. No, not the type that make the house fly....but the kind where each part of the house is a section unto it's own. No one can find me unless they use an intercom.
