I Voted, Did You? (Non-Political)

voted! now there is nothing left but the lawsuits...

Ballot is signed and sealed. On my way to drop it off now. (mail-in ballot, didn't wanna risk mailing it. :D)

Just before lunch the lines at my polling place was down, so I went to case my votes. Even though it was at a church, the building didn't collapse when I walked in.

The ballot was electronic and stored on a card. Must have cost the state a big chuck of money. No hanging chads.

People were up beat and seemed genually happy to stand in line to cast their vote. The lines were moving steadily, so it was only fifteen minutes from the back of the line.

Tragedy: When I was leaving an SUV carrying two young women turned over while making a U-turn to get to the polling place. They didn't appear to badly hurt, but the vehicle was on its side.

BlackSnake, if the church stays up when I come in to work every day, you can breathe easy about it.

Thanks for helping out.

I was raised Catholic. As a kid, I use to try and get around the ten commandments...LOL It took a while for me to learn that its not all what you do, its what you desire to do, so I just gave up and didn't go back to church.

Voted before coming to work. 7 pages of ballot! State and lots of city stuff. Feel good.

Awesome job!!!

Was the ballot electronic?

voted at nine this morning--had to wait in line for a half hour--which is rare for my neck of the woods--a good sign, i hope!

Voted half an hour ago. It was one of those paper butterfly ballots that really are a work of imbecility, especially with about eight pages of votes to get through. I punched, then triple-checked it so that they wouldn't have an excuse to discard it after I voted all over the map. Fie on "straight party ticket" says I.

yuppers!

took advantage of early voting and voted last week. early voting (formerly known as absentee voting) an option in this county. stats so far...1/3 greater early voter turnout than in previous presidential election. also have some hotly contested local candidates/issues that have brought people out in droves.
so i've been waiting since last Thursday!
ACK! hate waiting...

We had a long wait, made longer by the fact that we had a very active and cranky toddler with us who wanted to run around but couldn't. I'm pretty sure that we waited longer this year than before. Also, they moved our polling place, and previously they always had donuts and juice or something for voters. Nothing this year:( It was definatly more crouded, and we went early so I think it's gonna be busy all day.

Oh yeah, and we used a cardboard punch ballot :) just the kind I like. I checked for chads just like I've done every other year and there were none, so I have no worries about that.

I got rained (cold rain) all over waiting for the bus, and walking from the bus stop to our polling place so now I can say that I've suffered for my country!http://www.gulker.com/photos/2003/i_voted.jpg

Minute by Minute Events at Polling Station

By CHELSEA J. CARTER, AP National Writer

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. - This is the story of one day at one battleground precinct in suburban Detroit, Precinct 20.

10:05 a.m. — Murad Al-Tawil, 30, casts his very first ballot. Born in Iraq (news - web sites), he became an American citizen three years ago.

"I thought it was going to be hard, the paperwork, but it was not," he says.

In the days leading up to his visit to the precinct, he said he had read all of the literature he has been given.

"It's a good feeling when you choose your leader, when you have a say," he says.

Al-Tawil says he cast his ballot for John Kerry (news - web sites).

Beautiful, ABS. *teary-eyed*

Ofcourse, had he voted for Bush, I'd have advocated deportation. And thrown out that Al-Tawil guy, too!:D

If I had been an American, I WOULD have voted. I'll be following the news tonight, to see what happens.

I was waiting at the door when they opened the polls this morning at 6 am.

The cool thing about where I vote is that it is nigh impossible to mess up a ballot. I've never seen one simpler. One page, front and back. All you do is connect a broken arrow that is aligned with your choice of candidates, or a Yes/No when it comes to retaining judges and other municipal issues. Then you slide it into a machine that drops it into a ballot box. I was in and out in five minutes.

The other thing I really liked seeing is that a line was forming when I was heading for the door at 6:05. I have never seen that before. Where I vote there is usually no more than two or three there at a time.

Voted at a very small, out of the way senior's rec center just up the road - no crowds, no waiting, thank goodness.

i voted.. it was painless, the only sad part about it...cuz i prolly would have lingered there all day if they offered floggings right afterwards...

hey!
i can dream
