I thought Trump was going to get us out of Afghanistan?

The Liar in Chief only had a few policies that were supposedly immutable:

- Immigration Reform: To stupid to know how to get it done
- Infrastructure: Too manic to be able to build a cohesive team in the legislature to get a bill with support
- End the Wars: I guess he does not know more than the generals.

Recognizing that supporters of Trump will never admit to what a fuckup he is, or that they were conned by the con artist, I'll just say this to you: How do you like them apples?

When Obama was president, Trump tweeted that it was time to pull the troops out.

War...good for the economy.

Great anecdote from yesterday.
Trump had lunch last week with 4 randomly selected soldiers who had served in Afghanistan and asked them what they thought about the war.
He then assembled "his" generals and berated them for fighting a "losing" war.
The generals countered every argument he made, but Trump didn't listen.

Then the generals played a gambit that would have made Machiavelli proud:
They showed Trump a picture of Afghani women in the early 1970s wearing miniskirts....and told him this is what the world could expect again if Murica whomped the resurgent Taliban in Afghanistan.
President Grab-Em-By-The-Pussy immediately opted for troop increases.

When he was saying he'd pull us out of Afghanistan he also said he was smarter than all of the generals. Now he says the generals convinced him to send more troops to Afghanistan. So he's no longer smarter than the generals?

Winning, winning, winning. It's getting boring.

That's one of the two reasons that I and other foreigners were so excited over Trump's win, (similarly to why nationalist parties won in Europe) :

1.he promissed to cease the warmongering
2.people are fed up with globalists and the 0.1%, and Trump's pre- election campaign promissed all sorts

It looks like no.1 was a lie.
Still unsure about no.2

You're an idiot.

Which part of my previous post do you find to be wrong, Rob?

Trump showed the world exactly the man he is, on the campaign trail. To believe otherwise is to be obtuse, either deliberately or incidentally.

Call it wishful thinking. People know that they should be more skeptical, but they eventually get caught up.

It happened with the Obama brand too.
I liked him too, until I found out that he dropped the biggest no. of bombs on foreign countries.

ETA
Which made me remember: underguy1 was such a good poster…
- He was a tad too anti- american indeed, and one had to constantly watch out for that.
But he was bringing up such interesting issues that were removed from the constant "Right versus Left, the bad guys versus the good guys" bickering that ones often sees in political threads.

"We have wasted an enormous amount of blood and treasure in Afghanistan. Their government has zero appreciation. Let’s get out.”

Now who would say such a thing? Hmmmm ....

Why, the man who knows more than his generals--well, when he's not saying he's taking his generals' advice now.

"No one" knew Afghanistan would be so hard.... just like health care.

Should have learned from the soviets... their quagmire in Afghanistan was one of the nails in the USSRs coffin.

America will be in Afganistan as long as thier is opium.

The ONLY thing America has done right is the Golden rule never deal out of your own home.

Fuck, you're asking a lot; I thought he had a plan, a brilliant plan, a plan better than all your generals could devise, to defeat ISIS in a short period of time and would be enacted in 30 days.... what's the hold up?

Woof!

Yeah, you'd think he would have heard it from the Russians. So many of his people were talking with the Russians. ;)

Yep, the one sensible thing that George Bush the Lesser said about the Iraq invasion was that, if you're going to war, just make sure it's conducted on someone else's soil.

Anyone that didn't see this coming hasn't been paying attention.

He doesn't have the ability to deal with the complex realities of government. Granted to be fair, the republicans aren't very gifted in regards to that in general. However Trump is just completely out of his depth. His most valuable skill politically thus far has been ginning up a rabid base and providing an endless stream of distractions with his chaos.

You're starting to sound like Republicans.

Sen. Bob Corker:

"The President has not yet been able to demonstrate the stability nor some of the competence that he needs to demonstrate in order to be successful. He has not demonstrated that he understands what has made this nation great and what it is today, and he's got to demonstrate the characteristics of a president who understands that."
