You are close to raising an interesting question.
What if the debates were moderated by an automated system. One that would not allow one candidate to interrupt another and would cut off the microphone when their time was up. It would allow truly equal time and one free of interruption.

There is so much social pressure (polls, talk shows, pundits, twitter, etc.) to keep up with the campaigns and debates, it seems to take away from the idea of looking at the issues important to you and deciding on your own. And the process drags on WAY too long...
I think it's generally obnoxious when anyone thinks you might automatically take their side on any issue without any regard for you having your OWN position.
You're doing it wrong! As long as you understand what you are in store for and accept it for what it is, it doesn't have to be stressful. It is what it is and is a means to an end (getting there). Nothing more.
