I think.... this doesn't at all mean that the act of kindness is not recognised; it is likely to be much treasured.

But I think that, over time, for some people it can seem safer to remain cyncial - particularly when the cynicism is reaffirmed more than once.

I also think, however, it shouldn't stop somebody believing that there are good decent people out there, and when they are found - they should be treasured too.
