I think that despite all the crappy things going on in my life right now, I can't really complain. I have a roof over my head, clothing on my back, food on the table, and a job making that all happen. There are many out there that don't have any of this.

Be thankful for all the small blessings in life or you'll forever be disappointed...

I think that you're right. Sadly this is the first year that we are not able to take a name or two from the Christmas Children's tree and help a kid for Christmas. My kids know the meaning of Christmas, and they've been a part of giving every year, helping to pick out the gifts. Our finances this year have taken a dramatic toll on our lives, and unless things change quickly, we will miss out on the tree this time. My kids also know that this year, the only gift they may get is a movie with their parents after lunch.

I think this is our first Christmas like this as well. Quite a humbling
lesson nontheless grateful for it. No one is safe in this economic time,
no matter how well you plan.
