Other than that, I don't see a reason for this movie to exist.

Anyone wanna guess the final Tomatometer? I'll say 43%.

I'm gonna bet high at 73%. I don't think it's gonna be awful and I think a lot of youngish people have never seen it.

Well, it does have Kate Beckinsale's sweet ass...

Yeah, this is probably gonna be horrible.

Totally pointless remake. The original already nailed the creepy, tacky retro-future quality of the book.

I'll still go see it, just to support a good escapist summertime sci-fi yarn with adequate SFX, which we don't make enough of. The good stuff never gets greenlit unless we support the average stuff, otherwise the summer would be full of shitty rom-coms. I also don't care about the no-Mars thing. If I want the original, I'll just re-watch the original.

Besides, this is just killing time until Dredd (a.k.a. "The Sci-Fi Version Of The Raid: Redemption") comes out. :D

Dredd looks interesting. I am one of the 3 people who actually enjoyed the first one with Sly. It was a fun albeit stupid movie with a couple decent set pieces. The new one looks a tad less stupid and just as fun.

As for Total Recall, I dunno. The original is one of the better Arnold movies but it's still just so-so. Some good moments and a fun plot but I think nostalgia has caused it to be a little overrated.

watered down to pg-13.

no mars.

colin farrell.

in short, fuck this shit.

if i remember correctly i don't think the short story had anything to do with mars. i'll have to dig that and re-read it.

but yeah the original is pretty good but the fx are kinda dated and lame by today's standards, so i might go check the remake

The story was about Mars. The original movie was actually fairly close. At least as close as movies like that get to their source material. Which is to say not really all that close but good enough for most.

that's the problem with short stories, you read too many of them by the same author and they all start to sorta blend together

Wait, doesn't everybody love Judge Dredd? You can have hours of fun shouting "I am the LAW!"

I know I've never understood all the hate for it. Sure it has Rob Schneider but I can look past that. It's a fun movie. Maybe it's because I don't read comics so I don't get upset when a movie doesn't follow them.

that's a terrible reason to remake a movie. movies made five years ago have dated fx. don't give these assholes any ideas.

Many of Dicks stories also have similar feels to them. A lot of paranoia and evil corporations and governments.

Dude, they remade Spiderman for absolutely no reason whatsoever. At least some bad fx is a reason.

no, there's a reason. it's just stupid and it's one they'll likely repeat: they wrote themselves into a hole of stupidity and couldn't figure a way out so they gave up and started over.

Rob Schneider is like the best part! When was the last time you were at an incinerator demanding an apology?!

That's it right there. I told a comic-loving friend that I thought the Stallone film was good. You would have thought he caught me pissing in his Cheerios.

As for Total Recall, I'll wait for DVD. Even my continuing lust for Kate Beckinsale won't get me to shell out money for this turd.
