I shaved today, so now I'm all smooth and nice

Ah, yes, it fits.

I've recalled, btw, that the Gavi from 2000 offered by Villa Lanata (Gavi being a refined white piedmont dinner wine) is reputed to be quite good. Their 99 is among my all time favorite whites, but I've not yet tasted any 2000.

So, stalking cmooth-shaven lambs are we? :p I'm in.

no more stalking for now. off to real life.

a dopo, signore cavalliere-fortune

(i just made that up--it might not be right)

LukkyKnight,
Yes, I must have missed the Italian snippet. Love the sound of French, Italian and Spanish. Beautiful and fun languages, but I don't understand any of them! I'm sorry, I can only understand Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, English, German and very basic Spanish.

I really should get Svenska and myself a thread...lol

That's plenty of languages, I think you can stay. After all, it is your thread. ;)

:)

So how was your day? I couldn't stay indoors today so went walking around central London and took some pics. Did go into O'Neils but as I'm not a beer drinker and had nobody to drink with I left. I guess I'm terrible at celebrating St Patrick's. lol

It goes well here, although it's been largely domestic, lp. I'm rewarding myself while the laundry spins with time online...

For us St. Pat's is still some 12 hours off, but we'll get there soon enough. For my part in spite of my fondness for Guiness, and other things Irish, I'm going to open some indulgent wine.

I can't drink Guiness at all! My friend kept drinking it when she was here in London. Don't know how she managed pint after pint. :) I've got wine here actually. Still haven't opened it. Are you aiming for Italian or French wine? ;)

I have a serious weakness for Italian wine. I probably only have about a case of french on hand, whereas I'm certain I have um... well, let's just say lots more Italian to select from. I have the French for when people just want "something to drink" and the Italian for when I want to celebrate...

I had good wine in Turkey and China.

Just a say from Burgondy. The wine is as good as the friends you share it.

I'm not that into wine, so I don't know much about it. Just know I can't handle red wine. Two glasses and I'm spinning. Did spend a lot of time in my friend's room with him (Texan) and my MN friend drinking red wine. The company was good. :)

What's your poison ? Beer or Aquavit ?

There are many delightful alternatives to reds, from every nation which produces wine.

scrymettet,
I'm a cheap drunk. :D I drink mainly Bacardi Breezers, Smirnoff Ice and Vodka & Red Bull. I also enjoy Baileys and cocktails. Prefer my cocktails fruity flavoured.

LukkyKnight,
I prefer white wine. It doesn't make my head spin, get sleepy and no headache. ;)

In all honesty I don't understand why it should be so, but I've been told that the headache thing is less of a problem with Italian reds. I remain dubious, but intrigued - most of their varietals are not grown elsewhere, so it's possible.

Next time you're feeling adventurous, go to the good liquor store's Italian aisles and look for tall, black bottles from Vila Lanata from 99, 2000, or 01 labled simply "Gavi" and give it a try - a white that delights the palate.

Well, some red wines I don't feel too bad with. My mom can only drink red as white wine gives her a headache.
Hm, the bottle I have at the moment in my room is a Shiraz Mataro "Rich full flavoured red wine". South Eastern Australia. Got it from a guy who came over once. We finished the bottle of white and damn, was I drunk that night...

Lp, is it by chance the '98 Grenache blend? I've read reviews that suggest it's a very nice bottle, though there was very little of it made. The aussies have mastered Shiraz, and if that's the Turkey Flat offering which is blended with some Grenache that's supposed to be a nice bottle for the price. Turkey Flat winery is in the Barossa Valley, which is one of Australia's premier wine regions, where Shiraz rules. They made a legendary straight Shiraz from the 99 vintage, but I don't think it had "mataro" in the name.

Hey LP....is Soho still as seedy as ever? I was in England for two years and hung in Pecadilly ever chance I could.

Woodcarver,
Since when is Soho seedy? :D It's the same as before pretty much. Same clubs, bars and crowd as when I went there first time in 1999. Mind you, they did move the Ann Summers store though to Oxford Street wich I find kinda cool. So, now I can legitimately walk into the store and go downstairs and look at toys. There's also a 3-4 floor store right by Tottenham Court Road named Harmony now. Not too bad.

I hang out around Piccadilly, Leicester Square, China Town and Covent Garden a lot. Everything's there, so it just becomes the place to walk around and people watch. :)

It doesn't say much more than what I told you. Hm...UK brand. Stowells of Chelsea. I was considering drinking some next Sat before I go out partying. Or I'll just bring it home to mom. :)

Turkey Flats a UK brand? Hm. Perhaps you're seeing the importer listed, not the producer? It ought to be a good Aussie shiraz I'd think, but I suppose they may be owned by a British concern. I get very confused around shaved women sometimes.

Back to topic.
No itching ?

scrymettet~No itching. Still nice and smooth. :D

woodcarver ~ Hey, think about it this way; ten years from now my friends and I will still dance to Kylie Minogue's "Can't get you out of my head" and want debate if Will Young or Gareth Gates should have won PopIdol. LOL
