I remember hearing/reading years ago that the father sold some land he had (cause I think he does some real estate, or use to at least) to a cell phone company to put up towers - which is how he made a decent chunk of change.

I think having that many kids is weird, certainly not my thing, however they take care of them. They pay for what they have or they don't get it, they don't take any government money - unless you would count tax exemptions for the kids. I'm pretty sure that their home is paid for along with any of their vehicles. They shop 2nd hand stores and make their own laundry detergent.

I've seen a few episodes and the kids all seem pretty well behaved, respectful, well cared for and loved.
