And I blame Literotica.

You see - earlier today I went out and bought a new chair for my desk at home. A nice leather chair with arms. I thought a chair with arms - someone I could rest my arm - would help with some pain that keeps recurring when I spend a lot of time on the computer - nerve related.

Anyway - a few hours ago I'm sitting in my nice new chair. And I have it set higher than my last chair - don't know why I didn't reset it. But there it is. There I am...

And I'm about to log off and go watch a movie. "Haiku Tunnel" - really quite funny - definitely worth watching. Anyway...

I close down my browser - swivel my chair around and SLAM my Knee into the edge of the the desk.

FUCK IT HURTS. I mean really hurts.

I don't think I'll be running for a few days.

Thank you - all sympathy, especially kissing, is greatly appreciated.

I'm mostly pissed that I'm not going to be able to work out for a few days.

btw...atleast you can afforid to get a new chair dilly my chair has no arms and its hard on my back....:(

Silverluna - go to Staples, they're having a sale.

cybergirly - uh... hmmm - that's do-able. Those other parts could certainly use a work out.

ok. thanks. and what parts might need a work out? need a hand?

I usually run 4 days a week, weights 3 days. I can still do the weights (well not the legs) but still, I hate to miss the aerobic workout.

And damn, it was such a silly thing to do!

*lol* If I don't work out I'd gain 5 pounds in a week!

I'm one of those people who is genetically predisposed to being overweight. Its only by being incredibly disciplined that I manage to keep it under control and even then I've got a few more pounds than I would like. I'm afraid of "breaking the habit." I like to stick to my schedule and not give myself a chance to get used to not working out.

Silverluna - a hand, a mouth, other body parts - always appreciated!

I understand....I run 6 days a week, 6 miles every day! I also take ballet to help stretch and improve my flexabilty. I refuse to grow old gracefully and I'm fighting it every step of the way!

So Dilly, is there any swelling?? And NO, I'm not talking about your knee!!

I ripped my shoulder apart a few years ago in a bike (bicycle) crash and have a permanently separated shoulder so I can't lift to much, I just lift to keep toned. I'm falling apart. But my trousers still fit and I'm still at my college playing weight, so that's OK. No beer belly yet.

Well that is pretty much always swelled. And enjoyably so - well, enjoyably if there is anyone to enjoy it with!

As far as the knee goes - that's swelled too and it ain't swell.

Well - there is always something you can do. Even if I'm bone tired I still go - and walk for a 1/2 hour instead of run for an hour.

I usually do 8 + miles in an hour on the cross trainer. A bit less if I use the treadmill but I like the cross trainer because its not as much impact on the knee. But again, even if all I have is a 1/2 hour and I'm tired I'll still do something.

Likewise on weight days. If I over did it the week before I'll go in and just do light weights and do as many reps as I can with each excercise rather than trying to lift heavier and heavier weights. Even when I'm feeling energetic I do that sometimes just to focus on toning.

I wonder, with your shoulder, if you can still do light weights but just do high reps?

I don't think it's his knee that's in urgent need of care at the moment. LOL, at least that's not the swollen part.

Light reps, that's what I do..while I watch the news. I've grown lazy since I hurt my achilles and do very little with my legs except for riding my bike. I was on vacation a couple weeks ago and spent many hours on my bike, but since I've been back, I've been lazy. I'll have to get back to it.

It's getting better though, another couple weeks and I'll be good to go. I'm going to try to just run three days a week so that I don't strain it too much again though.

Its all about being in the habit. I was a total couch potato for longer than I care to admit - plus I work on a computer all day. I didn't start working out regularly till 2 years ago and, now in my 40's, I feel I'm in the best shape of my life. Yes, I was skinnier when I was 20, but it wasn't exactly a healthy skinny... it was alcohol and drug skinny... *lol*

2 years of working out 5 to 7 days a week. This is a habit I don't ever want to break. Even when I had Lyme disease earlier this year I still went to the gym almost every day. I barely was able to do a mile but I did it. Just to keep in the habit.
