I preface this by saying that generally I wipe my ass on most of what "majority America" holds sacred. Astronauts, however, are above such petty political/idiological differences.

I don't think this is that great of a tragedy. It certainly is for the families of the Astronauts. But, the history space exploration is punctuated with the death's of brave Astronauts. They knew exactly how dangerous space travel is. They knew that they might well die, when they stepped on the Shuttle. Yet, they still did it. I don't view the space program as a National thing. Ultimately, space exploration will be for the benefit of all humanity. We are all made of stars, and to the stars we will return.

I salute the crew members of STS-107. But, I'll not dishonor them be shedding tears. Even in their death's something will be learned that will further advance the space program. Thus, their life's work continues.
