I noticed Something Intresting today..............

As many may know I live in Pittsburgh and The company I work for has several other companys...........
Today I had to run a pick up truck full of bulk mail out to Columbus Ohio post office main distrubution center to be mailed "Local" for a trade show the "other" company is putting on.
When I pulled in the driveway and they had a plastic tent with a guard in it.............No ever since I was 21 I have carried a gun and had a permit to do so, but in the state of PA only so I left it in my desk today knowing I was going over state lines......
This guard comes out ask me for ID.......I couldn't understand her at first but than got it and found my DL and handed it to her she looked at it and me and just gave it right back.............
Didn't write my name down ,have me sign in, or do anything......
I was then permited to go where I needed to go......Never looked at my truck or anything.....I found myself walking all over this place while getting thing done.....Never stopped , questioned or anything.....
I know the post office is federal and when you carry you are not aloud to carry in any federal building as well but anyone have a clue what this is about?......
I mean you could have still done anything you wanted.......Was it maybe cause I am a "White " male..............maybe not what they would be looking for?.......
I mean what do they think they are stopping if I was out to do anything ...well it could have bben done put it that way....

Wondering if anyone worked for the Postal Service and knew what there postion was on this current situation......

Wondering if Thumper, or anyone who is out and about has noticed anything like this?.................

Sloppy security. I think people are getting lax already in some places. Just because you may not look like you would cause trouble doesn't mean you wouldn't. There's all kinds of crazies out there.

Sounds like a case of slackness at work. Mere slackness. Hopefully the slackness doesn't cost em, if you know what I mean?

That's extremely poor security since anyone can falsify identification. That was proven on Sept. 11th.

I don't know if it was racial profiling... but it was definitely laziness.

I mentioned in another post that my foxhunting addiction takes me to Fort Leavenworth (home of the federal pen) often. I tried to go there the other day to do some work around the kennels, and had a damn hard time getting past the guards.

BUT, when we were going there a week ago saturday, the guard came up to the truck window, looked at my husband's id, when i offered mine, he said he didn't need to see it. Asked us if we had any weapons (like a terrorist is gonna say "oh yeah, i have nerve gas in the trunk) and waved us through. he didn't look in the bed of the truck, in the horse trailer, nothin.

yet at Ft Leonardwood Mo, the governor had a hard time getting through the gates because he couldn't find his photo ID
