does anyone know of a good personals website that doesnt charge. i hate that even the bad sites charge 20 bucks a months just to write an email. its rediculous especially since there isnt ussually anyone near my area. can anyone halp me or give me a link.

also could you share your experiences with such sites.

Unfortunately, you are going to run into a catch-22 here.

The only personals site that are free are those that are trying to establish themselves by building up a client base. These places are typically either newly started or scam sites. If they are newly started, their business plan will call for them to institute pay to contact rules once they meet a specific level of advertistements.
These sites by default have a smaller selection, and therefore are of limited value if you are trying to cast your net widely. Plus since they are not well known, people may be hesitsant to use them.

If you want to have the largest selection of people from sites that aren't scam operations, you need to just buckle down and pay for one of the major ones. They have the widest range of possible matches, and are able to charge because of it.

In short, you get your money's worth, regardless of where you go.

as an aside, the lit personals thread work somewhat, but that is another thread topic entirely.

Yahoo is like $19.95 a month and you can only subscribe by credit card. Plus if you don't cancel they just keeping renewing the subscription.

I used to go to a site called Matchdoctor.com
Its still free... I checked.
You can signup for a gold membership and pay but its not required.
Its not as high traffic as some of the good pay sites....
but at least you wont have to give out your card number.
I would give it a hardy 3.5 out of 5 stars.
1.5 stars deducted for being slow. ( but then again women never show interest in me...)


As to yahoo...
It used to be free but then they changed and became greedy money grobing bastards.
If it were any worse they would require you to pay for looking at their site.

Dont use The www.megamates.com site.
Once you go in and try to use their services it will automaticaly load files in to your windows aplications_data folder and propably install spyware components on to your system without your knowledge.


Im going to run a full diagnostic on mine now that i have used it.
Hopefuly there is nothing there that is damaging.

It is completely free to browse personals and send e-mails. One of my friends has been using it for months and really likes it. I played around with it a bit, but am involved with someone now so cancelled my profile on there. I don't know if it puts any kind of spyware on your puter, but I doubt it...

I liked the set up of the site, but it seems rather aimed at young/trendy/ goofy 18- 20 somethings or so - if you're in your 30s or 40s you might find it full of immature and annoying people. I get that impression because okayamigo recently added a bulletin board feature - I gave it a shot, but I'm a lit snob. I like the level of conversation here at lit, and that site didn't cut it. Have fun!

it is a great place but don't begg the ladies to get naked, you wont be there for long if you do
stay away from yahoo sites. it's 5000 15 year old boys and 90 year old men fighting over the one 18 year old girl that makes the mistake of going into there chat rooms.
