Someone put their email address in a public comment to a story of mine. Don't I remember reading somewhere that this shouldn't be done?

I'm not sure if there's a rule against that, but I wouldn't respond to it, just in case its some type of spam.

Normally if a reader wants you to e-mail them they'll contact you through your author page.

This could be someone who doesn't know the site very well, or as I said it could be spam.

I wouldn't chance it and you may want to delete it, if for no other reason than this person may now get some unwanted e-mails from some of the local pervs.

Silly me, now I remember where I saw it.

If you click on "Moderate public comments," the site gives you some advice, including this:

"If anyone posts a URL or email address in any comment, please remove that comment immediatly."

There you go then! I've gotten to the point that I really no longer notice when I click on anything anymore.

I had to get rid of a couple last winter that were addresses to cam girl sites.
