I know i a dumbass, but how does one change a document written in all capital letters to lower case with out retyping the whole thing?

i am unable to find out to work this little trick in their help section.

also i tried to add quotation marks in a place, the thing jamed up and i received a message that the document was to large for Word to handle! I wrote the damn thing on Word! it's a good thing i have a backup copy.:confused:

I do't know of any way to convert them all, unless spell/grammar check catchs them, then it will likely have to be re-typed.

Bloody CAPS

Done it before, but more so of a few words than a whole document. Sorry man, but I've never found out how to change a whole document into lowercase from CAPS. It sucks, but in future I recommend glancing every so often at the screen...

You might be able to do a spelling and grammar check and change it that way, would still be a pain in the ass though.

Weird Harold is your answer man, I'm sure.

try this...

Select the pull down menu for "Edit";

Choose "Select All";

Select the pull down menu for "Format";

Choose "Change Case";

From the pop up box select "Sentence Case";

Click "ok";

That should work. If its a very large doc, do the process a page or so at a time. Otherwise you may crash again.

Can't help on the quotes. Sorry!

I think that there are a couple of ways to do this.

Go to the tool bar. Click on Tools. Click on Auto Correct. There you will find options to correct TWo INitial CApitalization problems;

You can select the feature that will capitalize the first letter of every sentence. (It might help to convert the entire document to lower case letters first)

You can correct the accidental usAGE OF CAPS LOCK.

You can also choose EDIT from the tool bar and then select Repace and then highlight Match Case.

Hope this helps! :)

Thanks !

Yes, i'm afraid you all are right. i need to rewrite it a few times anyway. it's just a little over four thousand words. (WELL DAMN!):eek:

WOW! more people to help! thanks. i'll go look into it.

Lady Kit is right.
I just tried it, and it worked just like she said it would.

Now you won't have to retype it all.

And Lady Kit, thanks from all of us who never would have known how to do this without your help.

;)

No problem!

I'm just full of little bits of information like that. Anytime you screw up a document you learn something. Most of the time I learned how to fix it. Ask anytime.

the results are

yes! thanks again to everyone.

i went down the list with no results. this is what changed everything to lower case. i clicked edit and than select all.
then i clicked format and chose change case. the standard microsoft way of doing things... the sneaky bastards.

now just how hard would that be to put into the help file where it could be found?

thanks again. fgarvb1
