I use parts of actually songs I like. My main ring tone is the instrumental part of Merlin's Time by Al Stewart.
I let my friends pick out what ringtones they like, so I know its them when they call. So I have a bunch of Al Stewart songs-I just love hearing his voice! some Fleetwood Mac, Shakari and other songs.
There is this site where you can convert songs you own to ringtones, you can even pick out how much and what part of the song you want. If you do it for free it takes about a day for them to email the ringtone to you. I use my blue tooth to upload it onto my phone. They also text them to your phone.

Right now some new agey thing just to annoy the kids.
But my son just plays whatever from his iTunes song library. He holds the phone up to his computer speakers and records a bit. Then he uses that sound file as his ringer. It turns out pretty good. Easy peasy and he changes all the time.
Give it a try with the F-Troop theme.
