I have been having troubles with my "compaq" so I have been working with the Tech line. The guy tells me to do a disc recovery. He failed to mention in doing so I lose everything on the drive. Pics, addresses, homework, ect...gone. Is there any way to get it back? It's obvious that computers are NOT my thing. I want revenge on the bastard that did this to me (scapegoat). Does any one know a customer service # that I can bitch to? Sorry to complain.

Sounds typical of a help line tech. Most of them don't stop and think about those things. Maybe try the Compaq web site and email them. That might be your best bet.

I'm sorry Stogie. BUt as far as I know. If you do a complete recovery on a compaq uusing their recovery disks. You have lost everything.
Unfortunately, there is no way, as far as I know. That you can get your files back again.

However the tech guy you've talked to, should have told you, as one of the first things, what a HD recovery would do, and He should have told you that you should have made a backup of everything you wanted before doing the recovery thing.

The only option you got at this point. Is complaining to the tech line you used. And complain about the service you've gotten.

Sorry it happend to you.

I have a Compaq, too. I'll never buy one again. :p

I can't believe the tech guy didn't warn you you'd lose everything!! The quick restore disk resets everything in the hard drive to what was there the day you bought it. As far as I know, there's no way to get it back. Call the same number you dialled the first time and register a complaint! You have every right to bitch. Do you happen to remember the tech's name?

Thanks for you help and advise, I figured that there wasn't any thing I could do. Oh well whatcha gonna' do? Thanks again, Now if anyone has advise on how to tell the little woman I lost her homework notes.

I was thinking jewelry, but if I can get away with dinner, that much better.
