Yes, stupid I know.....I've been stressin over this for the past 15 minutes, attempting what I could to try and get into that damn vehicle....

Any suggestions? Aside from breaking the window....

Don't suppose it's an older truck, with wing windows? Or maybe the slider windows in the back?

If not, I can't help you. My daughter locks my keys in the truck all the time, and I call the lock guy. I swear, it's impossible to break into anything anymore!

GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

Just my fuckin luck too! I've tried everything that could fit into that little keyhole, tryed pulling on the door to see if I could fit something in to push the lock button, but noooooooo!!!

GFD.....

Been there, done that. Once, is all, thank god.

We had locks that had a little lip on them, and we pried the door open with a screw driver just wide enough to shove a coat hanger down. With the hanger down, after about 20 minutes of trying, we were able to catch the lip just enough to pull it up.

I felt SO embaressed. It was me, my friend, and our two infant sons who were sleeping in the stroller, at the zoo, past closing time. Had a zoo maintnance guy help us. He was old. He was scuzzy looking. He asked me out. I said no. He asked her out. She said no.

And then there was the time i was gabbing to a friend and jumped out of my jeep at the grocery store... hit the lock button and slammed the door. only then did i realize that not only were my keys still in the truck, the engine was still running and my cell phone was on the seat!

nothing like that to make one feel like a dumbass.

Oh, but the night is still young ladies, and my dumb ass attack is hitting full force. It tooke me 4 hours to realize I locked the keys in the flippin truck!

Not only are my keys in there, but my other pack of smokes are too......

Pagancowgirl, don't feel too stupid cuz I've done the same damn thing.

And I'm not nearly as cute as you so I can't distract people with a well turned hip either... *sigh*

Been there, done that, NSW....and it didnt work. :(

I'll have to wait till my mother wakes up, so I can get money from her, and call the locksmith dude........Ugh. This sucks.....

That's why I have a spare dor key in my wallet.

Break down and call a locksmith, then get a spare key made.

Valdimer, have you tried a flat, thin piece of metal? A Clothes hanger is such a small diameter that it can often miss the locking mechanism. All you do is fold then end up at an angle, flatten it, and slip it in between the weather stripping and the window, feel around (gently), and trigger the lock.

(I used to lock my keys in my car all the time, so I learned that trick. I actually found a small tool that I can keep in my book bag that will do the trick.)

Call POP-A-LOCK.
And in the future, get a copy made of your door key (not ignition key) and keep it in a wallet/purse. The only time I had locked my keys in my car was back in 1985 as I was going to a job interview. I was hundreds of miles from home and shit out of luck. After that, I got a spare key made and never had that problem again.

Went shopping a few weeks ago.. came out of the store with my arms loaded as well as a full basket full of stuff.

I dug into my purse.. found my keys and hit the button to unlock the doors (and disarm the alarm)... then I hit the button to open the trunk. I was loading all this stuff into my car.. and threw my purse into the trunk because it was annoying me and getting in my way.

I finished loading up the stuff into the car and promptly shut the trunk. I returned the basket got into the car and realized.. NO PURSE.. NO KEYS.. shit!!!

Thank god..

1. I had unlocked the car doors before loading stuff into car

2. I have a button inside my car to open the trunk.

I was 50 miles away from home.. where hubby was with the spare keys... AND my cell phone was in the trunk with the keys..

i drive an older dodge truck which has vent windows that open. not very secure, i can get inside in less than fifteen seconds with a pocket knife.

I feel your pain, Vald, I've done this many times.

Get an extra key made and get a magnetic key holder. You can put it anywhere on your truck that is hidden and metal. I've had a key on my car since for the past 6 or 7 years. You can always get in, even if you do like I did one time and lock your keys, the spare key in your purse/wallet, and the cell phone in the car.

Anyone ever locked their keys, kid, and purse in car that was running with the heat on full blast when there was 8 inches of snow on the ground? (oh yeah.. the spare key was across town, and I was 9 months pregnant).

Happened to me.. We had this old county sheriffs car. It had auto locking doors. Hit the button and the doors locked.. well I had put my fully cold weather dressed child.. complete with mittens, hat and scarf, into the car seat.. turned around and NOT thinking.. LOCKED his door.. umm well in that car.. when you locked ONE door they ALL locked (whos ever idea that was, was a moron)

I had started the car and had the heat on full.. making sure to get it toasty warm in there. Husband (who's keys were in the ignition, and mine in my purse.. on the seat NEXT to my sons car seat) had to run across town to get the spare key at my parents house.

Me.. I had to sit outside (freezing weather, no coat) and try to keep a child calm.. while he baked...

It's funny now.. it wasn't 13 years ago...

I actually just found out about this today from a friend who was helping me shop for a craft that we were doing. She has a plastic card in her purse that is as big as a credit card. This card has a key cut out in it, so in a real pinch she snaps out the one time use key and unlocks her car door. She's going to get me the info on them tomorrow. It sounds like a handy thing to have.
