She is now stricken from the records, and cut into razor blades, but she was a fine ship, third of her class (Ticonderoga).

When I transferred ashore, I was the only enlisted ever to qualify as Officer of the Deck (Underway) in her. I think that one or two fellow Chiefs followed after I left, though.
