I know it's a serious situation but...

I've just heard that American banks are to be asked to freeze the assets of known terrorists.

We tried that last week I think with some moderate success at getting the obvious ones, (known terrorists who actually use their real names!). I don't rate these as real terrorists, at least not part of the group we're all hunting down.

But what makes me smile is how do you go about doing it...

"Hi Mr Bank Manager do you mind telling me which of your customers are terrorists?"

The mind boggles...

It's a customer service nightmare waiting to happen... Sally thinks the scary FBI man says "terrors" and gives him a list of all the cranky old ladies that come to her window.

What is truly amazing to me, is the assumption that the BIG bad guys are stupid enough to keep a large percentage oftheir $$ in US banks. What're the Cayman Islands there for anyway?

When your like the usa and fund half the world, it is no trouble to see their bank records.....the fbi will do all the checking......swiss and caymen will co-operate.

It's about time they do this.

I mean, after all, they quiz me endlessly when I want to withdraw $50!

What's your mother's maiden name?
What street did you live on between the ages of 5 and 15?
When did you lose your virginity?
What was the boy's name?
Did you ever have occasion to drink Jello shots off anyone's tummy?
What is the square root of the cosine of 6.779 divided by 1240 to the 10th power?

Next thing you know, they'll be saying that bin Laden purchased $10 million in traveler's checks from AAA (to finance this operation) without anyone asking him to stand at the counter and sign them all in front of them!

Gosh Barb, you're lucky. At my bank they do a cavity search before they let me cash a check. :p
