I know I'm going to regret this but....

OK. I'm angry. And I think for a good reason, but I know, by posting my angry thoughts in here, I will probably start some serious posting (and not all of it good, nay not MUCH of it good!).

So, I'm new to this whole literotica caper and just posted my first two stories. In my bio I identify as a gay girl who sometimes likes sex with guys. I mainly point to my love of seducing straight women rather than any so-called 'bisexual' tendencies, so my stories generally reflect that.

My first story was romantic and sensual, but my second, though both of those things (I thought!) also had some more hardcore girlie sex, involving handcuffs, batons and the like.

Well.

Suddenly I'm obviously a guy for writing about those things. Or at the least I'm bi-sexual, according to one anonymous poster who doesn't know me from a bar of soap and has no right to label me or my sexuality without at least asking me about it. Public comments are supposed to relate to the story, providing constructive feedback. But both the comments I got related to me. To my gender (OBVIOUSLY I'm a guy) and my sexuality (You are BISEXUAL, not lesbian). Not on.

Why is it, when a woman writes her fantasies, and they are harder than the usual beautiful lesbian making of the love image, why is she "obviously" a man? What is it about writing that way that screams MAN?? Are women not entitled to their fantasies and the expression of them, the same way a lot of men love a good rape fantasy. As do a lot of women I might add.

Anyhoo. That's my rant. And I do feel a lot better.... ;)

Seems like you've just learned lesson 2 of Lit: There Are Weirdos Out There.

I've been called a guy many times, because my writing isn't feminine enough for some readers. Also, people who have read my Gay Male stories have been convinced that I'm a guy, because "girls don't like gay guys".

Oh... why did I call it lesson 2, and not lesson 1?

Simple, my dear. Lesson 1 of Lit is to never, EVER call me "Sven".;)

It's a waste of time to be sensitive about it. You can be anything you want on the internet, and people can assume anything they want about you. There are advantages and disadvantages either way- use what you will.

Welcome aboard, Ella. Sorry to hear that your first experience was an unpleasant one. There are quite a few loons out there, but after a while one begins to rather treasure their insane little world views - once one sees the humor in them. As you said, they don't know the writer from a bar of soap, and yet they come out with the most remarkable pronouncements on one's character based on works of fiction one happens to have posted. Quite bizarre.

If it helps at all, here are the three things that help me to deal with "trolls," as we tend to call them:

(1) Saving and sharing gleefully with others the most ridiculous of their rantings. I can honestly say that one of my favorite feedbacks of all time was the one that read simply "DEATH TO ALL POOFS," primarily for the insanity of someone reading stories in the "Gay Male" section just in order to post that to the authors.

(2) Imagining the amazing and remarkable lives of the individuals who post such things. What on earth could their thought process be? And dear lord, how wretched it would be to be them. Compared to that, suffering a few slings and arrows from their spite is nothing. I fondly imagine my "DEATH TO ALL POOFS" correspondent as an immensely fat and indignant middle-aged man in his underwear, puffing with red-faced and righteous ire while trying to ignore the pronounced physical signs of his arousal from reading my story. No wonder the poor thing is upset.

(3) Posting my stories as a genderless horse. People don't have many expectations of an epicene equine, and so they rarely rant at me for failing to fulfill them.

All the best, and I hope you have a good laugh on your trolls -

Shanglan

The site owners, have graciously allowed each author to decie what PC's stay up on their works. If some jerk decides to use your work as his personal rant board, trying to get his tripe read by attaching it to your story, you have the power to just delete it.

Welcome to Lit, btw :)

It's an ongoing quest to lure out what gender lurks between the hind legs of our beloved horsey, but since bestiality is forbidden at Lit, and no-onw wants to stoop so low that even the pervs here at Lit calls him/her a pervert, no-one's dared to bend over and have a look.

There's a secret poll going on, the jackpot is up to $1.400 by now. You want in?

Watch out for the hooves as well. Putting one's head low down near the hind quarters is perhaps too great a temptation even for me - unless I'm quite certain that the intent is ... friendly. ;)

Excellent rant and first post, Ella. You're the first newb in years I've felt like welcoming (mostly I don't cos they're strangers, or really boring, or annoying :D ).

To answer your question, a good many idiots and/or dickheads don't like to think of girlies doin' hardcore stuff  .

Welcome to Lit.

regards,

Perdita :)

illegitimi non carborundum.

Welcome to the AH.

Hopefully, you'll get acqauinted with other writers, savor their honest comments and learn to ignore the static.

Welcome!
Some people think I'm female.
God knows why!

Trolls are fun.

You've been greeted by some illustrious writers. Awesome.

Welcome to the "What Gender are you?" club!
Lots of us get it, because we change categories.
And I get down-rated because my women aren't feminine and soft.
And I once got a rant from someone who was mad that there was a BDSM element in a story I posted in the "Lesbian sex" cat, because women are soft and gentle and why did I have to make them so mean, like men are?

Ah, the great and renowned "Anonymous" aka "Troll" has paid you a visit. Take it as the badge of honor that it is. You made him/her/it think or have a feeling that wasn't right. Good job.

Welcome to the AH and may the force be with you...... God knows you'll need it if you meet Don or Jaun or one of the other true characters we have floating around out there in reader land.

Where's Cloudy when you need some good Jaun material.....

Welcome to the AH, ella.

No matter what you write, you are unfortunately going to upset some one.

A favourite one I get is "much too long".

There was also the one where I was "endangering the career" of the central character. "It's a fanatsy," says I.

The horsey gave you the best advice.

Once again, welcome.

Well, the fact is that there are people who generalize and cannot accept the real possibility that there are cases that defy their expectations. It's like the women who claim "no woman likes anal" or "lesbians don't do BDSM", both generalities that are absolute bullshit! With 6 billion or more people on this planet, statistically speaking, there is bound to be every kind of sexual fetish remotely imaginable, in every theoretically possible combination. To ignore this fact is to limit yourself to stereo- types and preconceived images. It reminds me of that stupid line that mothers used to feed their daughters "nice girls don't do that" (or of Queen Victoria claiming that LADIES would NEVER do anything with their own sex).

Welocme to Lit Aussie_ella,
Don't fret the trolls/anonymous. Like the fabulous equine said, it happens. Figure it a badge of honor. It's common among the good writers.
I've never recieved a good one but that either means I am too new or too bad.

Welcome again. Nice to meet you.
I've been a little absent lately but stop on in to Abs Place (Abstrusians) for a drink and some company.

If you aren't getting the "What gender are you" question, you're getting the "Damn! You must be fucking hawt to write like that! I envy any woman/man you've been with... mind if I contact you personally?" Ask Sophia Jane about pick-up lines and the like, she seems to have had more than her fair share lately.

The moral of the story is that there's a troll out there for each of us, sometimes more than one. ;) Welcome to Literotica, and your very own baptism by fire.

Like they all said....

Very occasionally it is an author's own fault - I only thought to put, "No sex" up front on my latest after it got slated...

Most often, it's just Trolls being trolls.

In any event, remember that you got up their noses soooo far that they really, really had to make a comment. That says a lot about your writing!

Most readers just get their jollies (or click the back button) and move on. You got under their skins!

Keep writing.
