I knew it...Dumbledore is gay!

The better story, untold here, is that Rowling's right boob popped out of her top at the same new conference. News at 11:00 :p

Wardrobe malfunction? ;)

I think my daughter summed it up best when she read the news ...

He's over 100 years old and there's never been any mention of women in his life ... you had to kind of suspect Dumbledore was gay.

Although the news does bring up the question -- does this put a new light on his late night visits to Hagrid??

If Dumbledore is gay, why couldn't Hagrid be bi?

Bi *and* a cheating bastard?
We don't know what Olympe knows ... maybe it's an open relationship as they aren't always together ;)

Is it really cheating with different sexes? I mean if he's bi, is he cheating on his woman when he's with his man and vice versa?

Various Litizens have discussed cheating and trust in another thread, but the long and short of it is that if you are *with* one person then being with another person is cheating. What the parameters of 'cheating' are are subjective and down to the couple in question, but only scummy slutty people will cheat on their partner and try and excuse it by saying 'but they're a different gender so it doesn;t count'. The only time sex with another person isn;t cheating is when your partner is fully aware and has given informed, full permission for you to shag around.

And I'm bi, just in case you think I'm slagging off bisexuals.

But if you are *with* both people and they both know about each other and they both accept that the other is not a threat to their relationship, then what? It's like asking someone if they love their dog more than their cat.

Before you say it, no there is no difference. One can love the qualities of two different people without loving either any more or any less than the other. I've seen it, I know it's true.

My best friend still loves a woman who died over fifteen years ago, Still loves another woman who betrayed him, loves another woman who recently chose her carreer over him and loves yet another woman he met a couple months ago. I've heard him talk about all of them and there is no doubt in my mind that he loves every single one of them and probably a few more. For him to love any of them is not belittling his love for any of the rest of them. He loves them all for their individual qualities (the best word I can come up with) and he won't even compare them. It's like he is four different men the way he loves them.

Even so, when it is a matter of loving a man AND a woman could there not be even more seperation? Couldn't it be even easier to love them both without sacrificing any part of that love for either of them?

How then would that be cheating?

I'm glad to hear you say it. I was introduced to a bi woman around ten years ago, and she thought it was perfectly natural to cheat on whoever she was with because she was bi and went for both sexes. I found her attitude towards the whole thing very unpleasant and wrong.

I think she was talking about fucking. And what she had to say about fucking was;
The only time sex with another person isn;t cheating is when your partner is fully aware and has given informed, full permission for you to shag around.
In any case, I've seen the same thing as you. I've seen multi-partnered relationships that have lasted a full generation.

Exactly. I was talking about fucking.

If Dumbledore was popping over to Hagrid's hut every so often, but that was their only interaction, then it was hardly a deep and meaningful relationship. So either Hagrid was faithful to Olympe, or he was a cheating bastard.

I was talking about more than fucking. Because, at least for me, there is no sense fucking if there aren't deep feelings for that person. Sex without feeling is no better than masturbation.

You can't say that-- maybe the two of them had been harboring deep and repressed feelings, a la Brokeback Mountain...

*snff* how sad!

Well now *that* really is a whole new kind of fan fic.

Does it go in celebrity or non-human? :p

It goes into one of the thousand HP fanfic repositories ... no one else would care ...

In fact,
"Oh, my god," Rowling concluded with a laugh, "the fan fiction!"
(She was surprised by the FF phenom, but once she got used to it, evidently... She's sort of an anti-Rice)

I don't care that JK outted him. I just wish she'd waited until AFTER the holidays, so I wouldn't have to listen to my fundamentally Baptist sisters talk about the "slippery slope of soft Satanism" in the HP books I'm corrupting my children's minds with... NOW coupled with homosexuality on top of it....

*sigh*

Riiight...

Using that kind of logic, how would you view the complete ouevre of Tolkien? (Imho, more likely as scared of sex)

Have you considered offering them a glass of Kool-ade?
