for about the billionth time. Well, it was on, and nothing else really was. Goddamn, it's a good movie. I think it just may be my favorite of the series. Anyone think any of the others are better?

dunno. the Ewoks kinda put me off Jedi as a favorite. Although I liked Luke all in black.

I know this is dodging the question...but I believe they are all just an individual act in a three act story. To look at them individually really undermines the true scope of Lucas' storytelling.

<shrug> I like A New Hope best...

I can't wait for the Star Wars MMORPG...the screen shots look BEAUTIFUL, not to mention everything I have read about the gameplay looks really well thought out.

Empire was the best.

The others had great scenes, but Empire was the most original, with none of the Ewoks & Jar-Jar.

Of course Empire is the best. It was written by Gary Kurtz.

** Gary Kurtz wrote "Revenge of the Jedi" also...he used the word "Revenge" because in the script, Luke crosses over to the dark side in order to summon the power to overpower Darth Vader and the Emperor. Lucas didn't like this idea, so he ditched the word "Revenge" for "Return" and also changed the Wookies in the script to Ewoks. Kurtz quit over that, and the Star Wars franchise has been in disarray since.

Lucas has openly admitted that he did Eps 1 and 2 wrong. He told the story from the wrong angle, and has created too many paradoxes. So now, he's going to go back and re-do Eps 4, 5, and 6 so that they fit the story created in Eps 1 and 2. So expect yet more re-releases of Star Wars, Empire, and ROTJ.

Sheesh...what's wrong with that? The fist swell of Luke's theme as he stands on Tatooine wishing for a bigger and better life as the twin suns set...

The kiss 'for luck' at the bridge...sheesh...so many great moments.

Did Attack of the CLones get released theatrically? If so, why was there no hoopla like there was for the last one?

heresy! blasphemer!

I take that back, it's not so. New Hope was very good. Sorry for being reactionary. I have a cold and it's making me cranky.

How can there be any debate?

Star Wars is the best.

All the other try to capture its essence.

First they tried a big chase scene as a movie.

Then they gave you teddy bears (How can that be moving to the dark side? Maybe the Dork side)

Then they tried computer animation with a sense of humur.

Finally they use a whiney teenage coming of age thing.

Aaarg. Nothing compares to the Original.

Wow, the movie would've been so much cooler if they kept it wookies.

I think so also...but Lucas likes the "cute" factor, and just had to compete with E.T.

** The part with Luke crossing over is still in the script for ROTJ though. Originally, Lucas was going to have Luke thinking in his mind if he could cross over and come back, with Ben Kenobi telling him not to do it...but Lucas felt it would be too reminiscent of the scene in Superman when Superman was turning back time and was warned not to do so.

The first "Star Wars" (A New Hope) was a triumph of special effects. The only thing to compare it to was "2001: A Space Odyssey". It's a real pity that Lucas couldn't keep his hands off it with the modern CGI effects in its re-release.

It also has damn fine, award-winning art direction, sound, cinematography and score.

I love and worship them all

I am the JediPriestess....

They all rule...:D You couldn't have one without the other...;)

nope empire strikes back was the best one so far! episode 1 was good too but damn they should have killed jar jar!;)

my ranking ....

Empire Strikes back
A New Hope
Return Of the Jedi
Attack Of the Clones
Phantom Farce... oops i mean Phantom Menace

I kind of did not mind clones nearly as much as i hated Phantom.. it was at least equal to Jedi which frankly, annoyed me.

I'll try not to.

I honestly think I'm one of the like 5 out there who didn't think it was too bad.
