And it struck me just how not-funny the movie was. Not a boring movie, by any stretch, but not the side-splitter I was told to expect.
But then again, I'm of the mind that the first Austin Powers was much better than the second. Goldmember was a recreation of the second, which was in itself a recreation of the first.
Any joke that wasn't done to death in the first two movies was done to death all by itself in the third ("moley moley moley").
Goldmember himself was a shitty character, Beyoncé held her own but was nowhere near as good as Elizabeth Hurley or Heather Graham, and I'd already heard about most of the big secret cameos.
The lone funny parts were Michael Caine as Nigel Powers, the scenes of Austin and Dr. Evil in childhood, and Mini-Me. Other than that, I wish I would have watched the first movie again.
At least they seem to have brought the series some closure, so hopefully this means no Austin Powers 4.
