I just love these grandma's....

There's a lot of that sort of thing. It helps people not to feel alone. You need that when the news is so monolithic, reassurance that many others besides yourself have a different viewpoint. The content of some of the protests has been random and pointless, occasionally.

They (you know, They) know how to handle this better now than they did in 1964 and 1968, so the ripples it makes are a lot smaller. Small grassroots things like this they can't herd aside much, but they can and do refuse to mention them. Reported or ignored, there are still thousands of these all the time.

Well.....this is how it all starts, eh? Losing hope'd be such a bitch - and the rest of the world needs to know too, that there are such things going on.

Just clarifying, are you a military hater. I am not trying to argue. Just wondering.:)

Morning everyone.

Dar, is it possible in your mind to be against a war or against war in general without harboring negative thoughts and feelings toward the soldiers sent to fight it? Not that I'm saying that is Somme's intent, I would dare speak for anyone else on this topic especially, but you've hit a nerve and I'm curious about your attitude on this as one who vehemently hates war including this one.

just to further clarify I am just asking b/c of one of the photos had negative military signs. I am pro military anti war. My husband is a soldier adn he does what he is told. it isn't his fault we are fighting. I have no problem with the military at all. I just feel that instead of bitcing about the military and the soldiers we need to bitch more and do more to make the government see that it's the war we have a problem with and that it in no way is a fight defending us or our freedoms. I am sorry if I hit a nerve I just wanted to know what the OP was admiring.

I saw 3 signs total that mentioned military:

Kick the Military Out of Our Schools - check. I agree one hundred percent. Thanks to the Patriot Act, the schools are required to give the military personal info about students on request unless the parents specifically tell them not to.

U.S. Military: #1 Worst Polluter in the World - check. A bit hyperbolic, perhaps, but the US Military is certainly a large polluter, at home and even more so abroad.

We Support Military Refusers - check. As do I.

I suppose it would depend on one's definition of "pro-military". One could mean "pro-soldier" as in supporting those enlisted in the military. Or one could mean that they are pro the military brass and support all actions and decisions made by the military complex as a whole, simply because it is the military. Or one could also mean they are for the entire concept of a military in general. Something I most certainly wish we didn't have or have any reason to have. The entire purpose of a military is to wage war. They certainly play other roles on occasion, but that is not their purpose.

I'm not meaning to argue and had actually promised myself quite some time ago that I would not venture into these debates any more. I just needed some clarification myself, I suppose.

And on that note, I'm off to find some fucking coffee. :D

I am pro people in the military. I just wondered what about the protesters the OP admired. I don't like to argue about politics b/c I am very very not one party. I am just tired. Tired of hearing about how immoral the soldiers are. It irks me. I wasn't going for an argument either. for the goose.
