I just can't help myself!

One of my stories just posted today and I can't stop myself from going back every few minutes and checking on it! I have this horrible compulsion to check the rating and comments constantly.

Anyone else have this problem or am I just a sad pathetic individual?

When I submit a story I start checking 2 or 3 times a day to see if it's up. Once I know it's up I check it constantly *L* that lasts for 3 or 4 days then I go back to not really bothering *L*

I actually have 2 in pending right now..somehow it means I have to check twice as much and on top of that I have a newish story actually there to check scores on...I'm going dizzy from flicking to my submissions page so quickly *L*

I know what you mean, and I spend lots of time wondering what I'm doing to keep my stories from getting that last couple of hundredths of a point to get an H. I swear, a multitude of my stories are rated above a 4.4 but below a 4.5. It's maddening.

Waiting for them to post seems to take forever sometimes. Some weeks, they post in 2 or 3 days. Other weeks, it takes longer. I've got part three of a story that's been pending longer than I thought it would be since it was submitted a day or two after the second, which was posted a few days ago.

My submissions page is the first thing I check, even before I come to the AH. Re-read all my PCs at least once a day too.

I'm making no excuses. For most of my life the best I could expect in feedback for what I did was nothing. Nice to get some positivity in my life.

This is me, too. Always criticized growing up, and esp for my writing. Everyone thought I was weird. So, it is nice to have the praise now- a kind of validation, I guess.

When I have a newly submitted story up I check it very frequently. What I check (and keep a written list of) is the rating/number of votes. As soon as my very own resident trolls 1 bomb my new story, I try to get Laurel to back out the 1 bomb.
