I know I will. I have a lot to look forward to next year.
I’m looking forward to seeing a new year dawn - September 11th reminded me that that is a privilege, not a right.
I’m looking forward to getting another year older – each year I get a little stronger, a little wiser, a little more sure that someone, somewhere, has a game plan, even if I still don’t know what it is.
I’m looking forward to seeing whether or not two really are worse than one – something tells me, given my genetics, it just doubles the strength.
I’m looking forward to seeing my children change a little more – in the past year I’ve seen them walk and talk and laugh and cry; in the coming year, there’ll be more of the same, and each time it will be a brand new discovery for me.
I’m looking forward to making new resolutions – how else can I tell how much fun I’ve had if I don’t have a list of broken resolutions to measure against (one piece of chocolate a day indeed!)
I’m looking forward to setting new goals – Finding new opportunities to develop things I think I want and improve on the things I already like.
I’m looking forward to failing at some things – it’s been said that the good Lord looks after fools and children, and more than once I’ve fallen into both categories. Sometimes I need to be protected from myself.
This year had a lot of good times and a lot of challenges. It didn’t end anywhere near where I thought it would, and I don’t expect next year to be any different. There are a lot of things I should have done, and a lot of things that I still want to.
But in all, I am thankful that I have the chance to try again.
