I have continued to drop weight, even while eating my way through the Mendocino coast on our recent vacation. Oh sure, you'll say, all that organic avocado-tofu-hempseed-sprout-clam cuisine would make ANYONE drop weight, especially with those BBQ chia burgers and carrot-quinoa-kiwi smoothies. But it wasn't like that. No, we ate -- we ate GOOD.
* MAYAN FUSION down in Noyo Harbor serves a locally custom-made spicy chocolate ice cream that is quite literally the BEST ice cream we have ever tasted. Period.
* CLIFF HOUSE at the southwest corner of the Noyo Bridge has great inexpensive earlybird dinners and about the best damn crabcake we've ever eaten.
* THE Q right across Hwy1 from Cliff House has great Memphis-style BBQ, no frills.
* We used to like EGGHEADS in downtown Ft Bragg but it's gone downhill; sayonara.
Otherwise, we rode the Skunk Train; we walked the beaches and bluffs; we walked the redwood groves, and plotted returning with our recumbent bikes and flying through the forests; we strolled through holiday festival diversions; etc.
We had a great time... till we tried to skirt past the San Francisco Bay Area conurbation. One-half hour to travel one mile in a peripheral gridlock. Fucking commute traffic. Mumble bitch gripe groan....
