I have received an email thanking and congratulating the whole team for increasing the retention rates of students on the two modules I started teaching this year.

Module 1:
Last year:
– 57% (My region) 67% (UK)

This year:
– 66% (My region) 62% (UK)

My personal rate: 84%

Module 2:
Last year:
– 52% (My region) 65% (UK)

This year:
– 60% (My region) 62% (UK)

My personal rate: 71%

Not that this has any bearing on whether they will offer me any new teaching contracts, of course.

Well ... let's hope so! although unluckily they just finished advertising for the jobs before releasing the stats .

I have to think of ways of presenting these stats without looking like I'm rolling my eyes at line managers who ought to be fully aware of them, LOL.

Yes but I have to get them to think of it that way.

Like the Fella said to me: "They must really hate you." LOL. For years they've been saying they do worse than the rest of the UK because they have students who are poorer and struggle more. Then I join the team and they do better than the rest.

And some of them really hate me! LOL. However, the new line manageress has come round on side considerably, and might even come out to tea and buns with me one day.


BTW - do you have new radiators? I do hope so! It's bloody chilly here in Blighty right now.
