Yesterday my wife called me in work and told me we had a couple of small birds hiding in the brush by the side window of our living room. When I got home yesterday evening I looked and sure enough there they were. It lookedlike they were trying to stay out of the wind.

After I had changed I went into the shed and looked around. There I found a smallish wooden box. (About 1 foot by 1 foot.) I cut down two of the sides so they were a total of maybe an inch high. The other two I left alone, although I did attach a slanting roof of sorts. Along the back I attached three adjustable steel straps.

I covered the bottom with clean dead pine needles and added a small bowl of water as well as one filled with mixed seeds.

I eased my way through the brush and Palm Fronds to the area where the birds were. I lived up to my nickname, the birds didn't seem to notice me until I was almost within ars reach. Even then they only flew to perch in the Palm. I set down the box with it's high sides to the wind and an open side to the window, then I backed out. Half an hour later when I checked the birds were nestled inside the box.

This morning I again visited my shed and searched for some things I had placed in there a while back. It took a bit but I found them.

I went out back and pushed my way through the brush maing sure to make some noise. For what I planned I wanted the little birds out of the box. When I got to the box I looked around and saw them sitting in the Palm. I went to work. I took a six foot section of Rebarr and jammed one end as far as I could into the ground. Over the end of this I placed a thick leather pad then proceeded to beat on it with a mini-sledge. It took a while but I was able to drive the bar down so it's end was three feet off the ground. Now I picked up the box and using the straps on it I attached it to the rebarr before backing my way out. (I did refill the bowls.)

An hour later when I checked the birds were safely in the box once again.

Now we'll see if they hang out or not.
