Yes it is true, I have taken the step out into the unknown; R/L!
Inspired by all the first time meetings going on I decided to share some of my own adventures.
The person I met; "s", is someone I started getting to know online four months ago. We talked quite a lot and soon got past the first part when I decide whether this is someone worth continuing getting to know further. After a while I decided it was time to move on to talking on the phone which brought us further along in the process of learning about eachother. We have indeed spent countless hours communicating about who we are, what we want, views on the world and many other things. This created a good platform for us.
But it is only possible to take a "relationship" so far via phone and online and the prospect of meeting in real life entered both our minds gradually.
Since we live quite far apart this would mean a long flight for one of us - and four weeks ago I got off the plane stretching my sore back and stiff legs.
What did I expect? Well we were good friends and had shared more than a few laughs before I left. We had planned the visit so that I would see part of his community, do some sightseeing, and have a lovely vacation. I had also talked a lot about the fact that it was from the friendship perspective that we met, without other expectations than getting to know the other better. This was something we both agreed on. There was already a strong D/s charge between us and this would show whether it existed when we met as well.
The first few days were spent talking, talking, talking and then we talked some more. I was not disappointed at all, the honesty and truthfullness that had been a vital part of our communication before was still very much there. Whan discussing what we felt s told me that he also felt very comfortable in the situation. Gradually I took us closer and a careful exploring of the budding power exchange started.
Bit by bit s was offering his submission to me and my domination grew in a strong atmosphere of trust.
By the time I left I had decided to offer to take s into consideration which he happily said yes to.
Time will tell whether it is possible to keep growing long distance - we are planning but we wont see eachother again for quite some time. So far the connection is still strong.

i sit here with a big smile upon my face. Basically, i have been smiling since seeing Mistress Verypowerful off at the Newark airport in mid-August.....a few reassuring waves of Her hand while She stood at the gate on the moving sidewalk which insisted on taking Her away from me..........

Sometimes you just know when it is time to take a chance......and that time came to me in mid-July when, after several months of growing closer and closer from online and telephone discussions, i invited Mistress VP to visit me in Canada. Together, after a 5 day period of getting to know each other in my home, we ventured down to the US for a further 6 days, to relax with a well-earned vacation for BOTH of us, explore the landscape and possibilities between us, visit my friends in the NJ/Philly area, and attend a BDSM event in DC during the weekend.......

i may have planned the initial itinerary, with Mistress vetting my suggestions, but once She got here, it was Mistress who nurtured the relationship along.......thru its early stages.....from the first day i picked Her up from the Toronto airport.....thru day trips in the surrounding area........social events.....and shopping..... (Mistress, being the very strong person that She is, is extremely disciplined when it comes to shopping.......She doesnt buy anything unless She absolutely NEEDS it!! ::chuckles as he types:: ).......getting closer and closer each and every day.....moving forward.......slowly..... everything in its right time.......Her uncanny perceptions "right on" as She felt the pulse of the relationship and moved into my space......feeling fully invited and rightfully welcomed.......

i have waited almost 5 years since the breakup of my marriage for this special magic to "happen to me"........and i would like to thank Mistress Shadowsdream for "sprinkling some of Her special dust" on me by being the catalyst in bringing Mistress VP and i together.........i am deeply touched and truly honored to be in consideration to Her........i am savouring every moment of this process and know in my heart that the best is yet to come!!

No, what we have decided to start is not easy and would not have been ventured into hadn't it been for the strong connection we feel as dominant and submissive, as well as partners.
The time that we spent together allowed us to start getting to know each other in many ways *smile*, and that also helps a great deal when communication is under the restrictions of long distance.
We continue the path with our eyes wide open and enjoy every step. Indeed there is a strong feeling that the best is yet to come.

Yeh? Well, i've been called that, too, darlin', more than once. Maybe it's some kinda rite of passage in a place like this? A signifier of...being heard?

Another member of this place and i were recently discussing the whole "drama queen" concept as they apply to small online communities like this one. We decided that given that we're all extremely daring, inventive, creative people anyway (at least sexually - and that carries over into the rest of our lives in a multitude of ways, we thought), it stands to reason that we'd almost require an occasional infusion of High Drama in our middle just to keep us all going.

From that perspective, it's almost a community minded endeavor, the whole drama queen thing. (Only occasionally though cuz it gets old, quick.)
